The board isn't accepting my edits again and I've enabled EVERYTHING on the page (growl).

Obviously not. It even works fine for Malse, who also uses that tinfoil hat addon.

Unless you're visiting some pretty damn sketchy parts of the Internet, JavaScript isn't your enemy. All you're doing is passively breaking lots of the sites you're visiting, without even realizing it.

Unfortunately even parts of the Internet that are typically reliable can become "sketchy" due to flaws in popular software, such as vBulletin.

By the way, I don't have javascript enabled for ayonae.com (or any external sites referred to by it), and editing posts works just fine for me.

The problem is that she's only partially blocking JavaScript. So, enough JS loads to attach event handlers for async posting and editing (preventing the default form submissions), but that functionality depends on the blocked scripts and fails.

Those addons like NoScript aren't so bad in the hands of someone who understands their side-effects and can troubleshoot problems (like you and Malse). Nothing but trouble for everyone when regular end users try to run them though.

(Ahem) Thanks for the bonus condescention!

Sanchek, I'm not so hapless that I can't read a list of sites/routines that are running scripts at the bottom of a page and selectively enable or disable them - in this case what was happening was that something not A-ro related (i'm at work, on IE atm, so can't remember exactly which one) was disabled (y-timg.com or something similar) and so it was blocking the edit feature, even after it'd been enabled, until I exited and reentered the page. Because of the delay in execution, it appeared at first that nothing was happening and it was failing to allow the edits even *after* everything was enabled - hence the indignant post. (I was also late for something as a result, hence the bonus indignation). I have recently (last Monday) flattened out and reinstalled my OS, and so all my previous authorizations were lost, which means I'm having to reenable them one by one (although I need to turn that 'automatically accept that top level domain' one back off ;) ).

Also, if I'm not sure what a site/script does, but I need it to operate to submit a specific form, I have a bad habit of temporarily enabling something, which means it stays authorized for a week or so and then abruptly stops working, which was actually the cause of the malfunction the other day.

Regards,
Nydia

As many times as you've complained (blaming the board software instead of your addon, of course) about "the board" eating your edits/posts/will-to-live over the last year or so, I remain skeptical.

Dear Sanchek:

Is there any reason you felt a particular need to split this out... here in particular, instead of Nag? For dog's sake, I even wrote out the specifics of my difficulty (a de facto mea culpa in the last post, although yes, I think part of it may be board settings as well)

/sigh, plus ca change, thanks for making sure everyone saw you rub my nose in it ;)...

I didn't split it.
