/shrug. W. Bush probably doesn't want the public to see Fahrenheit 9/11 either. Blockbuster has lots of copies though. At least its still a game of tit for tat. Ugliest election ever. With a country this deeply divided, whoever wins this race is still facing 49% of the population that would gladly burn him alive. Riots and mass demonstrations would not be out of the question, no matter who wins. Maybe the United States needs a 2nd civil war, if thats what it takes for people to pull their heads out of their asses.

Even if everything that video says is true, if they blacklisted people who had the same last name and birthday as the felons, how is that necessarily going to win Bush the election? I didn't think your political affiliation had anything to do with your name. =(
As an anti-Harris ad that may work, but the shit about Gore losing by 537 votes was really stupid. The best Democrats can really say is "Well, it could have been different". Painting it as a vast right-wing conspiracy though is a little too Michael Moore-esque for my tastes.

Gotta love the titles on both those links. All in bold "'Fahrenheit 9/11' debuts as top home video", then below that you see it's actually just the top ranking documentary video rental. In the global scheme of things, probably putting it right above Legally Blonde 2.
Not to mention... Who cares how popular it is? American Idol, Survivor, and The Bachelor are popular too. Does that lend them an ounce of merit? Only if you're the producer cashing the checks off the zombies in front of the TVs.

'Ugliest election ever.'
- The most international, also.
I wonder if that's due to the changing times, or simply a one-off due to the specific situation and candidates.

http://forums.ayonae.ro/images/reputation/reputation_neg.gifKerry Doesn't Want You ... (http://forums.ayonae.ro/showthread.php?p=75397#post75397)10-23-2004 04:02 PMnot much of a comparison there...No, apparently not. There is no comparison based on the numbers presented by L2.
At this point, this is all a waste of time. No one is going to be swayed by anyone's opinions. Its down to the wire and all the issues have been presented. Whoever digs up the most damaging dirt will probably win. Whoever gets elected will not be able to looking forward to getting much done (or doing much damage hopefully) with the nation divided.
If Bush wins, its doubtful he will have Carte Blanche anymore. There will be alot more scepticism and doubt about the reasoning behind his decision making. His crediability is damaged. If Kerry wins, he suddenly has alot to prove, and alot of mess to clean up if his mouth is truely going to be able to write a check that won't bounce. Bush's network runs deep. They are not going to give up without a fight.
Then again, Bush and Gore were also a dead heat race. Bush got elected....and look at all the damage he did, depending on your point of view.

Wow. I don't think even Fox News has the capacity to drop a bomb like this....oh wait they didn't. Just who was this "investigative reporter"? Certainly a story this big would have been covered by now...oh yeah I know it's controlled by the liberals....where was Fox news in all of this?
This so called "documentary" is a 45 minute Bush campaign commercial. It seeks to point out the obvious barbarism of torture then makes Kerry out to be the mastermind of the 60's anti-war movement. It also seems to conveinenly gloss over the facts in a way that blatantly skews the entire story.
This picture is in many ways of some of the results of the Bush neo-conservative agenda. After all in the story Kerry is reviled for speaking out against the war. Back here today the same thing is happening. While I don't agree with everything Michael Moore says be brings up some interesting points and is not any less of an american for making them known. So I often wonder what is next, perhaps a new set of congressional hearings against "unamerican" acts?
Kerry did his time in Vietnam, albeit a shore time. Being injured in combat tends to shorten your time on the battlefield. Even now many doubt his injuries were true. Odd though that they were obviously good enough for his commanding officer. What about his shipmates? His shipmates have come forward to support him lending their word to his interpretation of the events. What about Bush? Where are Bush's comrades? There are none because he didn't have any. Has anyone ever come forward ever to say they served with George Bush? Of course we all know where he was....at home because rich Texans don't go to war do they? Remember Kerry volunteered to go to Vietnam. And lets not forget the new "tricky dick" Cheney who got four referrals to avoid going to war, can anyone say hippocrite?
Kerry's anti-war stance didn't start when he got home. He was protesting troop atrocities such as free fire zones. His protest was eventually heard by the naval commander of the vietnam region who gave him a medal for his trouble and sent him back to the front lines. Maybe he saw something while he was over there?
What about Kerry's actions after he got home? This film paints him as the mastermind of the anti-war movement after Jane Fonda. If he is such a famous protestor then why haven't I heard of him until he ran for president? If he was the inspiration behind so many movies then why was he never mentioned?
It is not my intent to demean or belittle the sacrifices of our troops in combat. What those men in the video suffered I would wish on no one. However to me it is not much better when you twist the endless suffering those men endured into nothing but a publicity stunt. Right or wrong many men bled, fought, and died for our right to debate. According to the story Bob Dole asked Kerry for an apology. Ok but what about John McCain, a former POW and friend of Kerry, a republican that has not come forward expressing his distaste for Kerry's actions?
I don't pretend to be a hardcore Democrat or Kerry supporter but I know bullshit when I see it. I am still voting for Kerry which as sad as it sounds is STILL the lesser of the two evils. At least Kerry did his time as opposed to the deserter Bush.
P.S. I have not seen Fahrenheit 911.

Seems to me each election has had more and more international interest, although realistically I've had internet access my entire adult life and thus can't really compare to stuff before the early 90s. Being the most visible country thanks to our global media presence is probably why, as opposed to any particular candidate or current event. Even periodically watching British and German programing on cable I've never seen the sort of media saturation that election coverage gets here, and since we beam our crap all over the world ...

It might also have to do with the most recent attitudes towards foriegn policy on the part of the current administration. In what manner the US president conducts business is VERY much an item of concern for other nations. When the president throws stones into the pond, the ripples and waves end up lapping on every shore. Bush has the dubious honor of the most foriegn outcry against action that he claims to be responcible for. So, international media exposure is just one part here. It is still only a tool.
The Internet plays a roll in a different way. The latest issue of Time touches on how e-mail, chatrooms and other online venues for communication actually inhibit exposure to different views. People can shop around until they find a niche place where people think exactly like they do, and that is what their opinions get refined from.

i´ve just seen this flick and i am asking myself does the "investigator" aka the "inquisitor" really believe in this piece of bullshit which he calls a "documentary" ??
this documentary has the same credibility as a the most ugliest propaganda movies from the 50s from the anti-communist era or the stalin era ....

Nah, they peed their pants over alot of stuff Reagan did too.
It's interesting to watch them try to affect our election. Now why oh why would the UN release a report complaining about looting that happened 2 years ago with a week to go before our elections?
I'm going to agree with World Police analogy of dicks, pussies, and assholes.
