Henry Cisneros pleaded guilty and paid a $10,000 fine in 1999 for lying to the FBI about money that he paid to a former mistress.
Independent counsel David Barrett's investigation of these charges has now tallied up a whopping 21 million dollars, costing taxpayers $930,742 from October 2004 thru March 2005 SIX YEARS AFTER Cisneros plead guilty.
Due to the outrage this has provoked among members of both parties this spring, the Senate agreed to strip Barrett of further funding, but the House Republican leaders prevailed in keeping the investigation alive to continue seeking embarrassing information on the Clinton administration.
And just this morning Delay was saying in an interview that it is the Democrats who practice the politics of personal destruction.......hmmm.
I wonder what the Independent Counsel probes would be working on now if the Republicans had not changed the rules immediately after winning the White House.
