I have been a fan of Cold Blood going way back to their early days, and have finally gotten around in the last couple of weeks to replacing my vinyl with CD's. I had already uploaded the vinyl to my computer using Roxio, but wanted hard copies of the releases.
Well, I had somehow missed "Lydia Pense and Cold Blood - TRANSFUSION"; maybe because it was after their original contract had lapsed and they signed with a new label. Their original contract (and six albums) was with Bill Graham, and it was Janis Joplin that introduced Lydia to Bill Graham, who liked them enough to make sure they were included in the documentary of the last days of the Filmore. But I digress.
I received this CD in the mail yesterday, and immediately listened to it. I then took it with me to listen to in the car as I ran errands today. Getting to hear new music by this extremely tight band is a joy. Lydia's voice sounded just as good, and even better on some songs, as it did back in the 70's. The horns are still a fantastic complement to the guitar and rhythm section. The only song from the old days on this is the closing "Down To The Bone". It is a great collection of songs.
If you are looking for something other than head-banging or rap or slow ballads, I strongly suggest checking this out.
