I'm buying a new mattress this week. Will probably invest in something nice.
Any suggestions? Are those crazy space-foam deals any good? The Sleep Number ones?

I love my spacefoam. No mechanical parts, lasts forever, and transmits no motion past more than a few inches. I was initially skeptical that it really mattered but I can definitely tell the difference sleeping on a normal box-spring set.

Yeah. There may be off-brands of that now, but the ones I saw all came with 30 year warranties.

I have a sealy (sp?) that I bought about 2 years ago and love it. It has some sort of memory foam in it also. I'll look at the tags to see the model but it was a king and was in the $2k range, definitely pleased with the investment. I sleep wonderfully.

I bought a soft-sided waterbed when I last replaced mine about eight years ago, but would probably go with the Tempur if I was buying now (they were just coming onto the market at the time and were out of my price range). That said, the 2" or thicker better quality memory foam pads can make a huge difference in the comfort level of a mattress for a lot less money.
Given how hurting most of the mom and pop mattress sellers are right now though I'd imagine you could get a pretty good deal on them...

I can't sleep on a tempurpedic at all. Too weird. I got me a nice firm pillow topped mattress from a hotel surplus store after sleeping on the same brand in a hotel once and not waking up with back problems (which usually happens to me when I travel).
Most mattresses are designed to fail after ~8 years, except for those sold to hotels, so a hotel surplus store is a great place to look if you don't want NASABED.

My parents swear by their Sleep Number bed. Us, we just have an old mattress that we're too lazy to replace, and don't have the funds for it anyway. But if you don't mind an expensive bed, go check out the sleep numbers.

This is ours http://www.sealy.com/TrueForm/TrueForm.aspx and I swear you could jump up and down on one side and the other side doesn't even know it. We got the plush pillow top and it's cozy.

- Haha, reminds me of a King of Queen's episode.
