U.N. says Colombian military executing civilians (http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/11/01/colombia.UN/index.html?eref=rss_world)
Colombia’s U.S.-backed security forces are engaging in “systematic and widespread” extrajudicial executions of innocent civilians as part of their counterinsurgency campaign, a top United Nations diplomat said Saturday.
Since 2000, Colombia has received about $5 billion in mostly military aid from the United States to fight drugs and the guerrilla war.

They were getting tons of money long before Bush came into power. Tho cutting it off at 2000 certainly makes it look like a Republican party no? ;P

Actually looking into it, there was really no money from the US there until 2000.

Better look deeper Rover, we've been heavily involved in Columbia since the 1890's.

So yes, monies and various other aid was flowing to Columbia for quite some time now.

That I understand, I was addressing the anti-drug money specifically. I could be wrong, it could have been billions throughout the '80s and '90s. Either way I'm not an advocate of the faux war on drugs.

Thing is, the monies to halt the flow of drugs from Columbia started way before 2000. That was my point, that and Jedd *sky is falling if it's republican* was attempting to paint it as a solely Republican issue.
It's not, it's both sides of the fence as well as the non voted powers in Washingtons power.

Mccain called for free trade with Colombia, Obama did not. McCain attacked Obama for this. That is all

I can understand your need to run about slinging mud at McCain. Sadly he's making up ground and it might be a close finish. I was really hoping it would be a big enough win one way or another that I wouldn't have to hear cries of corruption this go round.
on a side note: McCain did a great job on SNL this last week.

And Cindy finally showed some talent at something. Maybe we will see her demonstrating more goods on QVC in the future. :p

He was really funny, he probaly would have polled better if he campaigned with the same genuine appeal.

I wasn't expecting anything from him and was very shocked when he pulled off his lines without batting an eye.
I agree Rover if he had shown this side of his persona throughout he'd likely would have appeared more approachable.

Double maverick? Is that sort of like a double negative?
