Watched this being presented yesterday on AFN, good stuff, the first one from the war in Iraq, and only one of three in something like the last 20 years.

Too bad though that it had to be given post-humously :(

That is pretty awesome. I see they are showing the ceremony in 20 minutes on the website, might have to check that out.

I heard about this on NPR yesterday, wished I could have seen it.

I saw a replay of the ceremony and was glad to be able to see it. It does not matter what your political views are, it does not matter if you agreed with the war in Iraq or not, and it does not matter what the ultimate outcome might be in Iraq. What does matter is how this soldier lived and died. Even if history paints the war in Iraq as completely wrong, or justifiably right, the cold, hard fact is that young men and women die on the battlefield.

I am glad that this soldier was honored. He was not thinking about politics when he made his choices, he was thinking about the men under his command and doing his best to see that they all made it home.

I salute him. I am glad we have men and women like him in our armed forces.
