I'm confused. CDA is just raw cd-audio (wave format 44khz), aye?

Aye. I'm very newb to this burning thing. Just got my new comp and I want to take my CD library and just make a bunch of "hits" cd's for my car....

YEa I have no idea what i'm doing wrong. I rip it to the the music library. I then go to burn it and I make sure it is to "audio-CD" but when it is complete none of my home CD players will play it. I am using CD-rw disks. Is that wrong? When the disk is in the drive and I click properties it says it is an audio CD. No idea...LOL

If your home CD player is older, it might not play certain types of R/RW media. Assuming they will play okay as audio CDs in your computer, try burning them to a media with a different color coating. The lighter gold ones are best for compatibility.
Also, are you sure you're burning it as an audio CD and not a data CD with audio files on it?

Ok, all clearer now. Yeah, you can make "normal" CDs, I believe, I honestly don't do much of that. Yes, a lot of non-computer players are VERY picky about the type of media they accept. CDRW being among the most delicate.

Get Nero 6.0..Media player sucks for burning music. When you use WM player it rips them into WMA ..which you already know..and they dont play in any cd player home or car that doesnt explicity state they will play WMA more likely if it will play MP3 it will play WMA. So if you figure out how to use WM player and burn CDA files to a disc let me know!

You can tell WMP10 to rip into MP3 instead of WMA. I use EAC or CDex for ripping into specific MP3 'LAME' codecs, FLAC, or WAV.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but with CD-RW, don't you have to "finalize" the disc before a regular cd-player will read it? But if you "Finalize" a CD-RW you can't re-record on it anymore.
I wouldn't use WMP to burn discs though, use Nero instead.

I picked up Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 so I could convert all my old albums (ya know, those big round black vinyl thingies) to CD, so that is pretty much what I am familiar with; but, I never had any problems with CD's I burned with Windows program playing in regular stereo or car.
I should add that the tools included in the Roxio SoundEditor are pretty good at cleaning stuff up. I was able to transfer to CD many late 50's early 60's albums for my mother, and even tho they were recorded in some cases in mono, once digitalized they sound pretty damn good. And, they have played in all venues we have tried them so far.
