Well. I can sort of see where he's coming from.

Once France was one of the greatest nations on the face of the planet, even being the center-stage for most of Europe's culture on multiple occasions. His nation has now degenerated into something many political minds use as a deterring example.

Modern-day france can compete with the best on most avenues. The problem is that it's run by a slew of conservatists who desperately cling to what france was, and can't see their nation for what it really is.

I think France is simply jealous of the innovative methods used by other countries of similar stature, such as the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, to ensure a place at the table.
