basically a remake of the classic Arthurian tales but with a lot of creative differences.

Basically, Uther Pendragon king of Camelot, Arthur is the prince of Camelot (they complete skipping the sword in the stone aspect) and is a bad as combatant. Merlin like Arthur is in late teens early twenties at the latest and is sent to Camelot to stay with a family friend, the court physician. The challenge of the story is merlin is a inate wizard and magic is forbidden by Uther in Camelot. Morgana is not the halfsister of Arthur, but an orphaned daughter of noble birth that Uther has promised to care for. Guinevere is her servant, a blacksmiths daughter.

Its not bad, its worth hulu'ing a couple episodes to see if you like it.

It is a fun bit of escapist fare if nothing else is more interesting. The episodes are decently written and the acting acceptable (although I still see Giles when I look at Uther). But, you have to shelve all knowledge of the story because the television program turns it all on it's ear. It was obviously made to be a fun project, and historical accuracy or even a nod to previous fictional works is not to be found.

But worth checking out.
