I wish I sold fighter planes and guns. The profit and commissions make even a commercial remodel jobs profit just party money.
My dad worked on the f-111's, A6e's and currently finishing until his retirement upgrades on f-15 and f 16s. To more advanced tactical versions.
He travels the world upgrading our friends and possible enemies fighters. If you can sell them a 3rd a 4 th gen fighter than by all means let them purchase. Its one of the few industries prospering today and tomorrow.
Even if we sold a f 35, it wouldnt be the equivalent of the US armed version, Not every country gets the LT model with a Chip Foose upgrade. If we can improve the world by selling weapons they will buy from another country then more power to them and hopefully some jobs will stay in the US.
I haven't seen a sticker that said this fighter was made with 35% parts from China and assembled in America.
American Tech is still good, even if other manufacturing can be left to monkeys or robots. Like German weaponry of ww1 and 2 the US still makes some of the best precision weaponry in the world.

Its the design, manufacture, distribution and sales of things that everyday people want everyday that create jobs and a sustainable economy though. Not everyone buys a fighter jet, to spite the high profit margin. All those good skills we have adopted to make all these high tech marvels of destruction still have to be sustained, passed down and applied to peaceful means as well and not just left to the Asian hoards. Are we doing that? Maybe on a boutique level. On a mass scale, no. Hello, 10%+ unemployment. If we apply the same enthusiasm we have to making stuff that blows shit up to everything else then we should be OK.
