that's just fucked up, and though they aren't representatives of the US, they are a private organization, this is just one more of asteady stream of things that can't help but lead to more anti american sentiment.

Well, I cant recall anyone in this thread claiming that it was an American based organization either... All I can find is:

I'm trying to make the leap to his conclusion that it will result in more anti-American sentiment. If the NGO *isn't* American (I have no idea if it is or not), then why would should it have an effect on attitudes towards Americans?

I think perhaps Taleren is basing his statement on an assumption that they *were* American. If they were, then he has a valid point. If they weren't, then he doesn't. I guess I am just pointing out in a roundabout way that sometimes we (as Americans) are not getting the benefit of the doubt, but rather are being presumed guilty.

I didn't say they were an american group, but when you throw out a non demonational generic term, "christain" people are going to feel they are american's right or wrong. I didn't say they were americans, but people reading this or seeing the story are going to think they are. Most of the disdain and dislike for our country is unwarrented, that doesn't make it any less real. Things like this turn people against christains, and find me a country that the term "Christain" is associated with more than the United States to the Muslims, Hindu, etc.

Most other "Christain" countries have denominational affiliations, be it Lutheran, Catholicism, Church of England, what have you. The generic term Christain, is mainly affiliated with non demoninational churchs that are from the US, based in the US, or have major ties with the US.

Like, no.
For american people maybe, but then your point is moot. For other people around the world, christians are... Christians. Duh.

Didn't the article mention nuns? That's Catholic as far as I know. I can't recall another religion that calls their wumman servants of god...nuns.

Catholics are everywhere!

Off with their heads!
