I just can't bring myself to bet on baseball...

Me either.

I look at it this way.

A team in the NFL can go (hypothetically) 16-0.

Last year the Colts were 14-2. = .875 or roughly 88%.

Last year the best record in baseball was the Saint Louis Cardinals. Their record was 100-62 = .617 or roughly 62%.

This year it is the New York Yankees with 97-65 .599 or roughly 60%.

There are too many games in baseball. The winning percentages are also lower and too much can happen on the swing of one bat. Obviously football games can change with a pass/run/whatever - but it's not as often.

They're starting Carpenter ;) I think they'll get it together in the post season as is, but when Scott is on the hill, I like em alot :)

Kinda like why I am on the Twins. Hard not to bet them when Santanna is pitching :)

Hard to win a post season series with 1 starting pitcher. Let's not mention that the Cardinals have the worst record in the National League since mid June.

And of course the Twins, who havent lost a game in over a YEAR that Santanna started, tank today :(

So far, at least the Cards came through for me!

The Twins lost to Boston on 9/21/06 when Santana was the starter. He also got losses on 7/9/2206, 5/17/2006, 4/9/2006, and 4/4/2006.

He had no decisions on 4/15/2006(won), 5/23/2006(won), 5/28/2006(won), 6/23/2006(won), 7/3/2006(won), 7/30/2006(won), 8/4/2006(won), 8/26/2006(won), 9/15/2006(lost).

I get your point though about how dominating he normally is. But just this season they lost 6 games when he was the starter.

I forgot to put @ home (where they were playing) before that. He's like 11 or 12 and 0 starting at home.

I figured the playoff games where he started at home would be pretty solid locks :p

Only took 1 game to kill taht theory

Yeah, it's been almost a year and a half since he lost a regular season game at home, or the Twins lost one he started at home and got a no decision.
