On a side note I bought a second 870 express yesterday :)

So, here is the real question. If that has gets robbed, and during interrogation it comes up that the sign was the reason that the neighbors house was selected, would the neighbor have any kind of liability

With a good lawyer you bet your ass. still pretty funny though.

I wouldn't think so. The liability is with the person commiting the robbery, not the person putting a funny sign in their yard.

I can put up a sign that says my neighbor doesn't have pit bulls, but if a 3rd party wanders onto the property and is torn to shreds by the pit bulls he does have, I would still not be responsible for anything that happened.

Sixee takes the Common Sense approach.... the real world is Morris Bart would be all over that settling with his home owners insurance .....

I'm with Sixee on this one....

I think I'll put an Obama sticker on my car/house, and sue the manufacturer of the sticker if I get robbed!

Malse

Because all Obama stickers contain language inciting the viewer to rob a nearby house.

Easier to cart off that plasma TV if the owner is hiding under their bed hoping the police show up in time.

Irrelevant to a civil liability suit over whether or not the sign owner bears any share of responsibility.

Why does a sign in your yard make liable for something out of your control?

Malse
05-14-2009, 02:25 PM
It doesn't, implicitly, but depending on the language on it you could have grounds for a civil case.

Well then you are just as stupid as the person attempting to cart off my Plasma.

I voted for Obama, support him, and own a shotgun, 2 samurai swords, and pretty soon a Rottweiler!

This is what i was thinking in more simple words. No criminal action could be taken, but i would definately persue damages.

If you're going to cart one off anyway, might as well play the odds. The plural of your anecdote isn't data.

The point is that even if the majority of Obama supports don't have weapons in the house, they probably have a dog, know how to use a knife, can call 911.

The other point is that if a criminal played those odds on me, they might not make it out alive with the plasma....

Sanchek
05-14-2009, 04:09 PM
911? When seconds count, the police are only minutes away!

Seriously, the police will almost never respond fast enough to stop a robbery in progress. If you ask them, they'll tell you that themselves.

You having a gun is irrelevant. Odds + anecdote = nonsense.

Are you implying that Obama supporters have knife skills? I know the mexicans here say watch it gringo or I cut you ... Are you making a racist remark about obama supporters?

BTW... where I live Cops respond in 11 minutes flat

Malse

Last time I called the cops about a theft, they got back to me after three weeks and were quite conciliatory about how they weren't going to do anything about it despite my having physical evidence of who the thief was. My insurance company went through their entire claims process and had the check to me already at that point (thx USAA).

Life in the (halfway) big city. YMMV. That being said I have seen the state police pulled over behind motorists to help them change flats.

That's an eternity. They'd be long gone by then.

Really...an Obama sticker means you'll hide under a bed? I voted for Obama and have an Obama - Biden bumper sticker and sometimes I wear an Obama T-Shirt and I defy anyone to live through robbing my house when I'm home.

San, they could rob you and you would sit and talk to them about how much the cops suck while they do it, and you think my house is the target!

You're cute with the overcompensating.

As always, the plural of anecdote != data. A few lone Obama/gun supporters doesn't change the odds.

And that's why insurance rates are so high. You are part of the downfall of society. Thanks!

It only takes about a minute for you to bleed out. So that's 10 minutes too long, wouldn't you say?

And thanks Bise!

You're really foolish to think that support of Obama means support of banning guns.

Clearly. There are almost a hundred of you (http://my.barackobama.com/page/group/ObamaSupportersforGunRights)!

Rover

Then I guess we will see a ban on guns as of all Obama supporters only 100 support gun ownership. Clearly a majority support gun bans in this country, your data supports it.

What if the sign said "Neighbor leaves backdoor unlocked" or "Neighbor is on vacation"

Or even Better.

"My Neighbor is a cripple that cannot defend herself, please go ahead and attack her, I promise I wont defend them."

Sounds to me like the cripple should get a gun and lock his back door!

With that logic, if your neighbor was a 6'5 250lbs MMA fighter, and wound up injuring the perpertrator, you'd be able to be sued by them.

Possibly for false advertising?

And are you equating someone who decides not to bear arms with a cripple?
