You shouldn't be fucking 1-14 when you have the best non rapist player in the NBA.In my book, Jason Kidd is better than Tracy McGrady (we'll talk in 3-4 years), and Jason is only a wife beater (http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2001/0118/1025500.html). He's got three triple doubles this season. The rest of the league combines for three (three players at one each). He's also got the highest assist-to-turnover ratio of anyone with 100 assists. (Bibby, Snow, and Williams all have slightly better ratios and 90-ish assists.) Considering he can score 17 points per game, and rebound 7, he's the all-around package.

Now, Iverson... ...he's just a punk.

If you want all around package, talk peja stoiakovij or however you spell that crazy name. He has been averaging like 25+ PPG so far at least, he scored like 39 the other night and has sick amounts of rebounds and assists.

not that im a nets fan but player to player kidd would destroy peja

Sorry just don't see it, looking at statistics right now I see peja averaging 10 more Points per game, 2 more rebounds per game, a waaay higher 3 point %, FG %, and FT %. The only thing jason kidd has on peja is assists, they rank the same in steals. If you want to talk overall efficency, peja is ranked number 3 in the league and kidd is not even in top 10. In conclusion jason kidd sucks my balls with the rest of the east coast + the lakers, and the kings r teh win.

Kings own

The lakers need to go down again this year - They are like the yankees of the nba - and yellow is FUCKING annoying. It's like watching a 4 quarter advertisement for a brand of highlighters

Anyway, peja is the leagues most effient scorer - What I mean by that is he scores the most points with the least attempts. Sure, iverson has him beat statwise, but iverson takes almost twice as many shots.

When chris webber comes back from injury in beginning of 2004 or mid jan, the kings will be a force to reckon with, even more than now.

Our new additions of miller and the other newbies are paying off and the kings will only become a more efficient scoring machine as the season progresses

Pet peave #1.

Do not say "we" or "our" when referring to your favorite team. I always give my friends shit when they say things like.

"Damn, Peja did awesome tonight, I wish "we" let him play more minutes"

"We sure kicked that shit out of Green Bay last night"

Do people really consider themselves a member of the team they are rooting for?

In conclusion jason kidd sucks my balls with the rest of the east coast + the lakers, and the kings r teh win. It's a little early in the season to start looking at this year's efficiency stats. Since you posted last...
9. Jason Kidd (New Jersey Nets) 14 22.79
10. Predrag Stojakovic (Sacramento Kings) 15 22.73
Obviously, there's 8 other guys ahead of them on that list, but pointing at Efficiency and screaming Stojajovic is teh win! is a little premature.

Last year Predrag finished 28th to Jason's 13th -- if "efficiency" is your favorite stat /shrug.

In more interesting news, it's becoming obvious that LeBron and Carmelo are (a) going to be stars, and (b) should have played (more) college ball.

I use to watch hockey, I think it's more boring than anything (well maybe except baseball.) Football and Basketball are both fast paced, something is always happening, and someone is always scoring. Hockey is hit, hit, pass, shoot, save, fight, pass, shoot, hit, hit...etc etc.

stats dont determain a player as much you think buzya if that was true Jason kidd's first season as a Net would have given him the MVP and not Duncan /boggle considering during he was practically averaging a triple double. Jason Kidd is a much better over all ball player than peja. Take Kidd off the Nets and replace him with peja and i bet you couldnt start to compare the two.

For the record if the lakers keep up the pace they have set for the last 3 games or so, consider them champs again.

Maybe now that he finally owned up to getting paid in college his curse will be lifted. When they get to the playoffs, it's almost expected Chris will do something to totally fuck their hopes. Insert bad ankle, knee, timeout call.

Will the Kings realize that Webber might be holding them back?
There have been really good arguments for both sides on this. The Kings did collapse last season in the playoffs when Webber went down. Shows how much he means to the team. But, this year without Webber, the Kings have done very well. Peja really steps it up when Webber is out. Brad Miller has also done an awesome job filling in. I think it will be interesting to see how the offense does when Webber comes back.

Don't give me the Pacers; LA just humiliated them over the weekend. You can't have it both ways. You can't tell me to go look at the standings, and then tell me to ignore them at the same time. .833 > .824... ...even for real large values of .824 :) The Pacers, head's-up-loss or not, have a better record (as of typing this).

Neither team plays tonight, so, for the moment, "Scoreboard" bragging rights belong to Indiana.

Unless you wanna get into a BCS debate, I think we can safely avoid discussing "strength of schedule" too.

darviathar
12-03-2003, 02:07 AM
I'd love to discuss strength of schedule:

LA has beaten the defending champion Spurs twice, and also Dallas, Indiana, and Detroit.

Pacers, on the other hand, are feasting on the (L)Eastern conference, where a .500 record buys you a #4 seed right now.

Did you see the game? I did. It was laughable. Indiana was never IN the game.

I defy you to present an argument that LA is NOT the best team in the NBA at this point.

Also remember Detroit beat LA after the loss, and LA wasnt playing very good at all. You can't make a serious decision on who's the best when we're only 1/8th the way through the season. Give it some time, LA will fall, others will take over.

In the NBA as well as the NFL there's a saying that stands true.

Any Given Sunday(place day here for the NBA).....

One victory does not a season make. I will put forward that the Pacers team chemistry is far superior and far more likely to last the season than the Lakers own set of egos.

Let's see how it goes when the Lakers visit Indiana's home court shall we?

Again, I'm not making a case for ANYONE having the best team right now. I watch far to few NBA games nowadays. (It's been hard to be a Suns fan for the last few years...) You challenged me to find a reason that the Lakers weren't the best team.

Well, they don't have the best record. I'm sorry you don't like my reason, but right now, it's one of the ONLY indicators there is.

Lakers Spurs tonight. That's a game...
Pacers Blazers tonight too. Feh...

You'll have a chance at the best record in basketball tonight. You might want to find a comfy seat on the bandwagon now though, it's gonna start getting crowded -- at least until they get to Kobe's trial.

12-03-2003, 10:37 PM
I live in LA and I can tell you that the bandwagon amounts here is sickening. Anyone who does not know shit about basketball LOVES the lakers. I love when people say they are die hard lakers fans and blah blah blah but can not even name like starting 5 heh. All I know is I can not wait to see the Kings lakers game I am going to in feb. That should be nice. You keep saying lakers are best, but they have yet to play the kings who are doing extremely well this season.

I've been a Lakers fan for 20 years. Including the god-awful, post-Magic retirement years of 91/92 and 92/93. So don't give me that bandwagon crap. It won't fly.

Pacers with better team chemistry? Yeah, right. They have a coach with a clue now, but don't overestimate them; This is still a team that hasn't won a playoff series since 2000. The notion of a member of (L)Eastern conference winning the finals is funny though. Keep it up.

When you're still a Laker fan during the New-coach-every-other-month period post Magic and Pat Riley then you can talk. I agree with Buyza and Darvithar, yeah there is a lot of this bandwagon shit going on in LA, and it usually pops it ugly head during mid-season when the Lakers solidify themselves and nearly-unbeatable.

Now see, I'll give you a line-up that almost had what it took to be champions but were plagued by bad coaching (thanks Del Harris) and too big of egos... Nick Van Exel, Cedric Ceballos, Eddie Jones, Elden Campbell... Those were some guys who several years ago could play ball... they just didn't have the direction or confidence to get anywhere as a team...

Then along came Shaq...

"Oh and when the kings lost I cried "

You must cry a lot, since the only championship the Kings ever won was in the 1950-1951 season as the Rochester Royals (which later moved to be the Cincinati Royals, then Kansas City Kings, and finally the Sacramento Kings) That championship was won over 50 years ago, when the team wasn't even called the kings, weren't in Sacramento, and Harry Truman was president.

The Lakers however have a past full of victories, 9 championships while in LA. And earned many more while they played as the Miniappalis (sp?) Lakers.

Great, the celtics won like 9 out of 12 and the bulls won like 6 for 8 whats your point? Nice name you faggot. I bet you are a die hard laker fan as well, right? Where is the guy that likened the Lakers to the "Yankees of the NBA?". It some respects, that fits. Such as in any season that the Lakers/Yankees *don't* win, you wonder just what the heck is wrong. But the real "Yankees" you are looking for reside in Portland and in Dallas. Two franchises that have attempted to buy titles by just adding parts, tossing them onto the roster, and hoping for the best. LA's owner, Jerry Buss, is NOTHING like George Steinbrenner. Adding Payton and Malone (at albeit bargain basement/once in a lifetime deals) is the first quality roster move the team has made since trading Vlade Divac for the rights to Kobe. You want your George Steinbrenner of the NBA? He's in Dallas. Only difference is that his team never wins.

I don't understand people who grow up in an area and are a fan of some other team... I’m from OC, I’m a Laker fan, a Kings fan, an Angel fan, I used to be a Rams fan, now I don’t follow the NFL… I can understand those that grew up in NY, move to LA and are still Yankee fans... I can understand the guy who grew up in Ohio and followed the Celtics because out in the sticks, he didn't connect with the Cavs and besides, he got to see the Celtics more on TV because the networks always showed them... I can even kinda understand the guy who grew up in the Phoenix area hates the Lakers with a passion because they are always among the league elite and its sickening to hear them touted by the press year after year...

I cannot understand anyone who could grow up in the LA area and be a NBA fan yet not a Laker fan... The Lakers have given their fans everything they could ask for over the years and more... Championships, consistently competitive teams, superstars, dynasties, integrity, you name it… They did it within a league that has strict salary cap rules so you can’t compare them to the Yankees… They have re-tooled and come back with yet another strong team after the dynasty crumbled many times so you can’t compare them to the Bulls or the Celtics… They currently have two guys who have not only stated ‘it’s not about the money’ but proved it by coming to the team as free agents for way below what they could have gotten from other teams… About the only organization I can think to compare them to is the Canadians…

Phoenix has a large base of Atlanta and Chicago fans, mostly because of WGN and WTBS - the only cable stations we got back in the days before we had baseball. The Cubs -vs- D'backs games sell out faster than, say, Giants or Dodgers, our *real* rivals.

Most of us here have grown up on the Suns, and we adopted the Coyotes fairly easily as well -- although hockey loyalties die hard, and Phoenix has a lot of cold-weather transplants.

The Cardinals? Well, they just suck.

Mark Cuban is the closest thing the NBA has to George Steinbrenner in many respects. He's ultra competitive (and I'm not saying this is bad, by any means) filthy rich (this certainly isn't bad) and is willing to pay pretty much anything to give his team the best chance to win.

The difference is, of course, that Dallas hasn't won anything. At this moment, they are busy getting run off their own floor by the Lakers, in the second meeting of the year between the two teams. LA has routed them both times.

mirdorr
12-05-2003, 06:47 AM
Actually, the closest thing the NBA has to George Steinbrenner is Paul Allen. The Trailblazers have far and away the largest salary payout. Once the luxury tax was implemented, that team started literally throwing money out the window. They've continued to add salary over the last few years to try to stay competitive.

Of course, their results are slowly getting worse.

They just traded Wells. They need to completely blow up the team.

darviathar
12-08-2003, 07:18 PM
Paul Allen isn't a headline-grabber. Cuban is. Definitely in the Steinbrenner mode. Allen probably has more money than the rest of the owners combined, but doesn't criticize officials and call out players.
