I have always loved the movie Kaze no tani no Naushika. Of course I was young when I first saw it as the english dubbed from 1986 "Warriors of the Wind". I am looking for that 1986 english dubbing. All I can find is the most recent dubb which has actors like Uma Thermon and Patrick Stewart among others. I did not like that version at all for some reason. I know dubs are never really great as far as translations go but that '86 version was what I enoyred and I'd love to find it on DVD if someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks guys.

Ask and ye shall recieve (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001XAPZ6/ref=imdbpov_dvd_0/102-6550847-5300956?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=130).
That should have the original dubs along with the Japanese (which is better in my opinion, watching it subtitled.)

See that's the prob I had.. I saw that copy as well but I am unsure if it's the 2004 re-dub, or all the versions. While the subtitle IS the best I really remember that 1986 version. Hell I was twelve so I wasn't too picky in '86
In 1985 an English dub of Nausicaa was released in North America by New World Video. Believing that Nausicaa could not be properly marketed in the United States as it was, New World cut a large amount of the film and re-wrote the story, creating a much more juvenile film. This English version was then released under the name "Warriors of the Wind" and was distributed on VHS by Orion Home Video for several year (until 1995 when the license expired).
Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli were horified by the changes made to the movie. The experience caused Miyazaki to take a hard line on future licenses, requiring that a "no edit" clause be included in all contracts. When Disney was preparing Mononoke for release in North America Miyazaki sent them an authentic Samurai Sword with a short and simple message "No Cuts." You would be hard pressed to find the version you are after from any of the fansub/ripping community, plus all the files I could find with english audio dated from 2004 onwards. It is said the manga (http://www.boxtorrents.com/details.php?id=128540) is better than the movie, perhaps you could try that in the meantime.

Interesting, the IMDB link that I came up with from that very Amazon page has it listed as the originals. I guess IMDB doesn't have further dubs. Amazon has the VHS version of it that probably has the original dubs, but it sounds like its a cut version of the movie.

The only things Amazon has that -might- have the original dubs is the VHS tape, and I doubt you'd want that.
