I’M the chief executive of a publicly traded company and, like my peers, I’m very highly paid. The difference between salaries like mine and those of average Americans creates a lot of tension, and I’d like to offer a suggestion. President Obama should celebrate our success, rather than trying to shame us or cap our pay. But he should also take half of our huge earnings in taxes, instead of the current one-third.

Then, the next time a chief executive earns an eye-popping amount of money, we can cheer that half of it is going to pay for our soldiers, schools and security. Higher taxes on huge pay days can finance opportunity for the next generation of Americans.

No, 500k is enough for them if they are taking govt monies imho.

Just too many loopholes in cooporate tax law to believe for a second that the CEO's wouldn't hide the $$.

But if companies make millions/billions what ever. Think they can pay what ever they want to people. Do i think they are stupid, of course. Usally same handful of guys going from CEO job to CEO anyways. Drive Quest into the ground hey we got job for you over here. But what ever.

But that feeling goes out the door if they ask for a hand out. Ask for money fine with us putting stipulations on the money. IE. want 10billion dont throw a party ).

Currently, probably by funneling as much of his income as possible through capital gains. That'll be going away though (replaced by something else, I'm sure).
