No way. The original didn't need a remake, being what it was at the time. Knowing what the effects of the first one represented and it's place in film history, this is lame. Why not just make a movie about an actual Greek myth? Why rip apart a classic?
And I didn't see Bubo the Owl!

There is another greek god movie coming out something something and the lightning thief that looks decent too seems more for the kids but decent none the less.

Yeah, I saw the trailer for that one when I saw Avatar Korlis. Clash of the Titans looks a great deal more fist in the face and sword in the gut than the lightning thief did, but I think I want to see both. I'm a big fan of greek mythology. Not sure I really understand whats going on in clash though.

I'm positive I saw both Vashj and Ultima Weapon in there somewhere.

Have you seen the old Clash, Cloudwalker? It's loosely the story of Perseus, badly abused and mixed with other stories. It's a great classic.

No I haven't. Thats a good story though, so if this is along the same lines I might see it.

Clash of the Titans was great. It got shown to us for several years during dead days in primary school because it had some vague association with something we might have learned in the Greek myth section of our literature courses :> I really don't see why it needs a remake, what made it so great wasn't that the effects were awesome (they were already cheesy by 1990) but that it was so earnest and imaginative.
I mean, I know why it's getting a remake, the studio system has no bled dry all it's creativity and is recycling something, anything, please anything! from the past that was remotely profitable.

But for 1981, the effects weren't bad. Harryhousen (sp?) also did the effects for the much older Jason and the Argonauts, and for his time was an incredible pioneer. George Lucasy for his time in terms of visuals, if you will.

When I was 10 years old, I really really really wanted to see this movie. I told my teacher, and he said, "Meh, I'd rather see Raiders of the Lost Arc". I saw Clash, and then Raiders, and sure enough, he was right.
