Anyone excited about it? I started playing back in June when they offered free play and got sucked in hook line and sinker. First release I've been apart of since Omens. Should be fun, new AA'S, 5 more levels, new zones. SOF was a cool ass expansion imo, hope this one matches that.

This is the first news I've heard of the expansion and I must say, I'm not too excited.

Is EQ at the big 2-0 yet? Gotta be near 20 expansions. I know they're not doing one every six months anymore, but still...
I signed back into EQ when they did that free play thing. It just felt so... old. I guess I've been playing WoW for too long. The controls didn't feel right, they added so many new stats and modifiers I had no idea what I was looking at, and I had no idea where I should go. I played for 5 minutes and logged out hehe.

Seems like one expansion per year. I liked it mostly because I installed it on my 5 year old PC loaded with old drivers and crap that nothing else would play on, and it freaking worked lol.

Im sittin here waitin on the servers to come up as I type this... however I may run to BestBuy real quick cause - surprise surprise - they are late comin up :P
I THINK this is like the 16th expansion; but im not sure. You'd think they would have this down to a science by now... but no... at least they are consistent tho, right?!

This is the 15th expansion and for 2 years running R.I.P was involved in beta testing raids.
Talk about fun, and yes I think ya'll will find SoD to be as much fun as SoF.
Rk spells actually step in increments worthy of pursuing the next rank.
Mercs are fun, especially for folks that can't or don't have time to group.
TONS of AA's, literally a metric ton of them.

Another new expansion to make me wonder why I keep on playing. I am overseas like usual during release, so like always, I will be playing catch up. Most will be lvl 85 before I even finish patching. LOL it took me 3 months to patch SoF and I never did anything with it until March of this year. Still.....

I wouldnt know - I spent all day doing the tasks in Ocean Hills and Village. I don't even think im a full bub into 81 yet. But at least I have all the solo tasks out of the way, and just have the 2 group tasks to go before I get access to the 2nd version of TheVoid.
Ibudin
10-22-2008, 08:22 AM
Oh..nice! I did some task given by one of the Dragons in Field of Bone that leads you into the indoor zone inside the fort. You have to click the eggs and collect parts...gave faction and the new currancy 110 or so. Im only 40 percent into 81 myself. Died a lot messing around. Im going to look for those solo tasks you are talking about. More info here if you can relate it would be nice.
Basing the lvl 82 on guildies who were complaining about it lol, they got from 81 to 82 relatively fast exp hunting in Steam Factory with 3 exp potions and lesson burn.

82 is awful slow ;(
1/2 way through after 4 hours last night grinding constant exp in the Mech Guardian.
Ibudin
10-22-2008, 08:27 AM
4 hours and half way through, sounds like your pulling a mega ton of mobs and plowing through them...nice work! I was tempted to stick to SOF to get better exp but wanted to see what the new expansion had. Field of Bone named drops Crystallos group gear, and really easy at that...hell had Merc healer, Zerker tank, me and wizard and taken them down easy. Picked up a bag full of rank 2 tomes and spells at that.
Immortalis

Here's a link to some info about the tasks in Oceangreen Hills/Village.
http://home.comcast.net/~mathadon/Guides/SoD/OG_Progression.html (http://home.comcast.net/%7Emathadon/Guides/SoD/OG_Progression.html)
I have completed all but the Reduce The Risk task (and the 2 group missions) - I am indiff faction with the Captain and he gave me the familiarize task and once I completed it now he is giving me the group missions. So it appears that not ALL of these tasks are needed in order to get to where you can get assigned the group missions.

Thanks a lot!!
Immortalis
10-22-2008, 10:05 AM
Np - also I was incorrect in saying the only one I haven't completed is Reduce the Risk. After reading through, I also haven't done Names for the Faceless (http://home.comcast.net/%7Emathadon/Guides/SoD/OGH_T_11.html) yet either. So I haven't completed any of the ones for Garvin Windrunner and I can still get the last group missions.

Looks like I will be staying at 81 and grinding out AAs first.
Did a test last night and gobbled up 20 AAs in about 90 mintues (LOTD used). At that rate I can't see me making the move to 85 for another couple of months. I plan on grabbing some XP potions from LoN and accelerating the AA grind as well.
I need to look into crafting some of those new augs as well. Will check out eqtraders tonight and determine what I have to keep my eye out for.
Cheers,

They are STUPID easy. I have a "buddy" that just started playing about 4 months ago - he's level 81 with over 400 AA and is by no means playing hardcore like we used to play...

There is a specific solo strat that I use to maximize my AA XP. Depends on your class and how crafty you are at mass killing.
Pre-Expansion I could collect 10AA per LOTD with 1 or 2 camps in between clears to preserve LOTD.
Now that I have been able to move to a spot with even more pullable mobs I have in effect doubled my AA output.
Good times =).
I hope to be max AA again well before Christmas.
Cheers,
Ibudin

Oh ya AA'S are easy, makes playing the game less time consuming. My initial reaction to it was how lame, used to grind for 12 hours years ago and get maybe 6 lol. I like it better this way. Gives more time to work on 24 task quests for augs that take a long time to complete but they force you to explore many zones while doing so. I have never been able to get 20 AA'S though...think my best day was 14 or so and that was a good solid afternoon.

Lol... I remember when Kunark just came out, leveling from 50 - 60. I would have loved to have made 1/2 a level in just 4 hours. Even quadding, after all the down time it took painfully longer.

We had 4 lvl 85's on Tunare when I logged off last night with 26% into lvl 82. I haven't been soloing like I should, been exploring with guildys new zones getting the spell drops while they last. I wouldn't doubt we'll have a couple 85 Warriors when log into the guild today after work.

I'm 18% into 81. I've had literally 2 hours to play eq this week, and 30 minutes of that was logging in and fixing my ui.
Ibudin
10-27-2008, 09:56 AM
With your play style, gear, and AA'S...your going to have a easier time than 90 percent to level anyways.
When I logged out last night was half way through lvl 83. Im happy with my leveling speed. Many in guild are already 85 but they took vacation to play all week...thats a bit extreme at my age..vacation is ment for FISHING!

Still 81, but I have been finding more enjoyment in getting the new AA than grinding out to 85. They really added some nice stuff! I missed the first 4 days of the feeding frenzy anyway due to the patch taking me 4 days to DL.

Made 85 this last Sunday and have garnered aprox 30 aa's since.
I love the new aa's the brought out for rangers and think they are doing quite well in keeping the game fun.
They could've done much better on spell names however. My Cloak of Scales , ac and ds, upgrade is Cloak of Feathers. I've been trying to convince the tanks that they have to request a Feather boa if they want me to cast rk 2 version on them ;P
My ghetto ranger buff is now called Mottleskin ( upgrade to raven skin ).

Nice work Fandros. Nice to see the patch says they are improving the exp in SOD zones. Was thinking they could improve on it, considering the megaton load of HP'S mobs in Bloodfields have, worth the exp given versus risk.

Well we finished 3/5ths of Crystallos before the expansion and have the remaining 4 encounters to complete before we move on to SoD.
Being in Beta definately helped us last expansion and should help , to an extent, with this one.
heh yeah I was a lil fuzzed Monday and Tuesday after ripping through the levels. Now I have a metric ton of AA's to accomplish.

Fortunately we have another expansion to work on as well.
I know all about hitting the same raid targets for months on end. I remember a certain French Bard in EW that somehow notified us day after day that Vex Thal had crashed and we could clear it again...and again...and again...and again during that expansion.

Oh darn, those are some late raids. Grats on the new Crystallos plowing, couple more encounters to beat in MMM and we'll be in there. Being one of the first into MMM and then falling all the way back raiding Solteris to regear new people because so many quit over the summer sucked.

Damn... I couldn't do all that in this day and age. We on raid on Mon/Tues/Wed and I am usually gone no later than 10:30cst regardless if raid is over or not. My "hardcore" days are long gone...
I was halfway entertaining the idea of moving over to where you are, but that raid schedule would not sit well.

We don't have a required raid attendance %, which is rare in the level we play at. Guess we were the 18th or so to clear Crystallos server wide.

In case it wasn't clear, while our raids are typically 8pm-midnight EST we have a number of people that frequently show up late and/or leave early. Some East coast people leave by around 11 most nights; fortunately our West coast reinforcements are usually enough to let us carry on through midnight or occasionally later.
