Since the thread split from "American Racist?" was lost in the shuffle, I figured that I would give everyone a chance to resubmit their negative reputation hits. Or maybe I can do a better job at explaining my position this time.

It's too bad we lost those posts, there were some really good arguments in there. No hookers for Sanchek, even if he is a guild officer.

What I was attempting to say was, to the best of my shitty memory, anyone who works to support their family, here or abroad, get's respect from me. That includes Mexicans in the US legally or illegally.

Anyone working in the US should be entitled to the same benefits that are available to working citizens.

Is it a drain on government funds? Yep. It's also a drain on those same funds for nonworking citizens to receive those services, which is a whole 'nother can of worms.

I stand by my previous statement "That guy for 100,000 hard working, back breaking Mexicans."

I'll even take it a step further. If it was possible to prove that those 100,000 were actively working, I say grant them citizenship and bring their families. We could use some people willing to work in the fields, or building decks for Home Depot customers. They could even pay taxes to make everyone happy.

Fact is Mexicans are coming into this country illegal or legally. If they are working then they should be supplied the same rights as any other working persons coupled with paying taxes. Living in Wisconsin you would think you wouldn't see to many immigrants working but there are ALOT, and they are doing jobs no one else wants to do. They smile, are extremely polite, and never give you that look like you owe them something other than the same respect back. The manufacturing work force with in company I work has shifted from inner city African Americans to almost exclusively Mexicans. How they are able to do it, illegally, I have no idea but they are showing up and putting in the work to get US product out the door. While other able body American citizens pass on the work to sit at home on their ass. Those very same Mexican immigrants are doing the very same job I started off doing 16+ years ago, and its significantly easier thanks to automation.

A friend of mine ran a recycling plant and hired illegals. They would get busted and have to fire them. They'd get a fine, and then rehire the same guys with different names.

Corporate got a hold of it and made him quit doing it, but then he couldn't find replacements to do the damn work.

They ended up closing the plant. (not saying that was the only reason either) The point being, if they are willing to work, they should be able to.

Maybe if Uncle Sam would allow employers to register laborers to speed up work visas, it would generate those lost tax revenues everyone is so concerned with. Maybe there is some kind of program like this, I don't know, I'm not an expert on the subject.

In some instances, I don't have a problem with them receiving benefits. Of course, I'd like to see them pay taxes.....

Illegal Immigrants should be shot!!!1!!! 9/11 changed everything!!!1!!!!!11

Seriously, there isn't a whole lot that can be done about the problem unless some radical changes are made.

Eh. It's like every other problem we've got - if anyone wanted to get serious about it we could get through it quickly. No politician will take a hard stance on immigration (pro/anti/controll it/boost INS/let 'em all the hell in/whatever) because they'll alienate too many voters. Instead every policy that comes out is so wishy-washy that the problem continues to grow, and the agencies in charge of regulating the boarder are so underfunded they ignore things like day laborers.Just look at the recent nonsense regarding day labrorer work centers, where arguments over those degraded into violence.
