i liked it. I took a couple days for the meaning of the movie to set in for me. The shotgun silencer made me lawl at the noise :)

It's a waste of time unless you've been through West Texas, in which case the bit characters are all people you recognize. McCarthy is hugely overrated and everyone knows he's a gay bottom but him.

I get the whole meaning thing. I usually really like movies like that.
But this was trying to be too many things, and failed at each. A thriller, an action-com, a detective movie...at times the chase for the money was interesting, but just when it got good you realised they weren't even paying attention to it, but concentrating on 'the big theme'.
When it ended I just felt pissed off.

Nobody liked the ending lol, I just like parts of it. Call it..heads or tails. I think to many people hyped it past its borders...I stumbled apon the movie knowing nothing about it and really liked it. People who I tried to push into seeing it and hyped it myself, didnt like it. Like Grey, took a few days to settle in. Much like the movie "Bug".

I liked it, I didn't at first I thought omg this is a slow movie and what's the point. But I loved the air gun. Different, I guess that's what I liked about it.

I agree, it took a couple days for it to settle in. I walked out of the theatre going "Wtf did I just pay for?". It's not a movie I'll get on dvd to add to my collection, but dont mind having seen it in the theatre.

what was the point of the movie?
Basically you don't EVER go back and bring water to a drug dealer when you have 3 million dollars..... I could have told him that.

I still want to see it, but with the negative reaction my wife had to There Will be Blood, I don't know if I can get her to sit through another plodder movie that makes you think.
I liked There Will be Blood, after thinking about it for a couple of days. She still hated it, and there's no way she'd ever watch it again. I on the other hand would. Though she does admit that Daniel Day Lewis did an amazing job.

what was the point of the movie?
The point of the movie was the sherrif just coming to terms with the fact that the days he was raised in and the way people should act toward each other are gone. He said it in the voice over about how the sherrif before him didnt even carry a gun, and at the end of the movie he retires. Basically its about times changing and people coming to terms with that.

I loved there will be blood as well. Great movie, I don't think the wife cared to much for it either.

There Will Be Blood was great. Very Stanley Kubrick - Daniel Day Lewis is a legend.

Ahhhh....I thought it was that if you are in the right place at the right time you can get alot of money for the shirt your mom bought you.

I thought you were supposed to go to the movies to escape reality, not have it shoved in your face.....

March of the Penguins

Yes, but not about reality for the most part....
Sensationalized versions of real events, but not reality.
'Times changing and people coming to terms with it' is reality personified....

i guess man that just seems weak and you could then simplify any plot and apply that logic to it.

I go to movies to be entertained. I don't care about how it relates to real life or if I'm supposed to get some "meaning".

I completely gave up on any semblance of reality being portrayed in movies when I saw E.T.
I mean, really, flying bicycles?

Ok, to explain to the humorless, I was implying that the presence of an extra-terrestrial was plausible, but the bikes flying through the air was not.....too dry of a sense of humor, perhaps. :o
