View Full Version : Nostalgic posting?

Just thought it would be interesting to know - how many of you still post on old EQ guild forums?

The Joker forum is still up and running, and I'd say there's at least 20 of us still visiting and posting every few days. But, as is natural, it slowly gets more quiet with each passing year.

But nonetheless I still consider it amazing that, 3 years after most of us stopped playing, we still chat on a daily basis.

This forum here has been successful in just managing to adapt itself in to something more than EQ before the "fall" of the game, and thus has managed to (if narrowly sometimes) survive as a general forum. But of course most guild forums are more game-intensive and have not been able to survive the death of EQ.

There's a whole nostalgic element whenever we post here, or on our old guild forums.. so I just wondered, how many of you still are posting on your old forums?
And are you one of a small number, or is there still a vibrant, ex-guildy-ex-eq population there?

Prism is still active in EQ2, and while most of the traffic is related to that, we still have old members drop by now and then to say hello. In fact, in the past week one old member returned to EQ2 and another announced his interest in doing the same.

That's good - much of the old population, or significantly less?

Our retention of regulars from EQ1 is fairly good given the time that's passed. Some that moved on to other games have returned; others just check in now and then. I haven't kept track, but roughly 3/4 of our EQ2 members were in the guild in EQ1, and we have a satellite guild in Vanguard (though that game's state of affairs isn't so great). Prism has been around since shortly after Kunark, and while members dating back to that time are few, the tradition lives on rather nicely.

i still play eq2 mostly on nagafen now. when i play on venekor, it's with 5 other EW members. it's still fun despite getting ganked by twinks (that's on venny. on naggy i get ganked by griefers and zergers)

Lost Fires board is still active, as is the guild, in EQ1. While we have lost some to WoW, many have returned to EQ that had tried WoW, seeing it as being more of something on the side for spare time. I don't think anyone that tried out EQ2 stayed with it, from our ranks; that includes myself.

We get the stray "Hi There" every now and then from folks that have moved on, but most of the traffic we get is strictly game oriented and usually more to do with applicants.

Next expansion, level 80. /groan

Given that my guild is still highly active in EQ1, most of our forum activity is game related. Retired (and semi-retired) people still lurk and occasionally post, though. Some even un-retire!

If there were a Casus Belli board I would frequent it but there is none :(

Blimey.. I didn't realise so many guilds were still active. Well it's good to see.

What is the server populaton like? Still crowded, or a noticable difference?

/mourn Bise, sorry mate. Not even a CB forum for those that don't play anymore?

SOT's forum live and well. Although the only ones that play and still frequent the forum I believe play in RIP.

My guild forum on Maelin is still active, but we are still active as a guild. The old IvM boards are no more though. As far as communicating with any old ARo people, I get that through here or cross server tells if they are still playing EQ. I also talk to a few people through AIM/MSN.

edit to add: Grats on Stitch Fanny. That the last thing you need to do North AG? If so, good luck on getting your bow from Dyn'Lyth's armies event. In the past 6+ months of farming there, we've had 3 drop.

Actually, we did Ashengate East before West. We had our first West run last night, beat the Attendants mini-event and got Sothgar to 50-60% or so before the adds overran us.

So the bow does drop from the Army event eh?

Silly thing, they even call it Stich's bow lol

Yeah the bow drops on Armies. It's actually one of the nicer bard usable range items (a bard in my guild actually has one), but I dont' see myself bidding on one until there's no ranger bids.

Swift Avengers went the way of the DoDo, but I joined Valiant Crusaders a while back. They are a great bunch of people. Nice to see some familiar names still poking around here.

VA's still kickin'. There's still a lot of familiar faces and a few long time gaming codgers that will likely never quit. Some folks stop by every now and then to say hello (for nostalgic reasons).

I spent about 5 months playing WoW and got bored with it and like most old VA'ers that have tried other MMO's, I came back to EQ and VA. I think I haven't been back to the ARo boards in about the same amount of time. :P
