If you didn't get substance from his speech, then there will never be substance that will satisfy. Obama defined Change tonight with at least 29 policy points.

Yeah that was pure quality. The speech, the production (that video package was +++), everything was pretty much perfect. The worst thing I saw were a couple split second camera glitches. The republican convention is going to look downright pathetic in comparison.

Oh jesus nanci pelosi is on now KILL IT WITH FIRE.

I've enjoyed listening to Obama give speeches since 2004 DNC.

If he would leave off the bashing of the Republicans and run on his points of interest I'd vote for him.

A strong man doesn't feel the need to prop himself up by continually bashing and playing dirty.

He'll really win folks over if he all but avoids that game. We know McCain will have to sink to the trenches and avoiding that game will do Obama right imho.

Please leave off the uber teenage speak tho, "owning" another isn't really an apt term for this is it?

Obama already has the voters, he can do more for the country if he shines instead of sinks to that level.

He attacked McCain with class and with the truth. He used McCain's record against him without resorting to swift boating and all around lies.

He showed his respect for McCain and told McCain that it is time to stop with the attacks on patriotism and love of the troops and such just because they disagree.

All the man did was hold his own, and explain why you should vote for him and not his opponent. The reason we are so quick to get pissed off at McCain is because 80% of the time he is lieing when he attacks Obama!

It just seems that you keep adding more to the game for Obama to win your vote...

How many times in the last 3 months have you heard McCain claim that Obama is going to raise all of our taxes? It has been in all his ad's. IT IS A LIE. He is cutting taxes to over 95 Million Americans.

How many times have you heard McCain claim that Obama is not ready to lead... How does he know?

All his negative comments are bullshit and fear mongering. He has 0 substance when he attacks Obama.

I've never made an issue of the Flag Pin, kinda thought it was media trumped up bullshit.

I'm not voting McCain, I might vote for Obama he needs to do a lil more to assuage my knowledge of his very liberal voting record.

1) Stay out of the trenches
2) Keep talking about what he's actually going to do instead of CHANGE hurrahh
3) Keep the Clintons/Kennedy's and Jackson's out of his cabinet (PLEASE)
4) Start working to bridge the gap in Congress

He fails in those 4 areas, I'll write in my own choice ( yes throwing away my vote but I'll do that rather than waste my vote on a bad candidate)

He gets his chance to show against McCain in Debates from now to November.

I wish I could have that same confidence. :( I worry too much about stupid people.

You have to see where I'm coming from: I've only followed politics since 2000, so it feels really good to finally see a democratic presidential nominee that isn't afraid to call out obvious horse-shit in an intelligent, yet forceful manner.

It's been ugly for far longer than that. Clinton was a devious back stabbing mug who I voted for initially and still regret that vote all these years later.

I just want a honorable candidate who rises up to the position as opposed to the same shit we've dealt with for decades....yanno?

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/28/republicans.react.to.obama/index.html

Presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain issued a statement minutes after Obama wrapped his speech: "Tonight, Americans witnessed a misleading speech that was so fundamentally at odds with the meager record of Barack Obama.

"When the temple comes down, the fireworks end and the words are over, the facts remain: Sen. Obama still has no record of bipartisanship, still opposes offshore drilling, still voted to raise taxes on those making just $42,000 per year and still voted against funds for American troops in harm's way.

"The fact remains: Barack Obama is still not ready to be president."

There was just too much glitz and glamour emanating from the floor of the Invesco Field, transformed by a crew of seasoned Hollywood veterans, conservatives said.

Voters should look past what the GOP calls Obama's rhetoric intended to mask a man relatively new to public service compared to John McCain.

I think at least in Ohio that Obama (and the DNC) had to respond to the negative campaigning from McCain here. I don't know how many of the rest of you live in battle ground states, but I'm inundated DAILY by negative adds from the McCain campaign. I think the DNC responding to these and addressing what's contained therein is more important at least in Ohio than anything else they could have done.

This was possibly the best political speech I have ever seen or heard.

And while I liked Keith going after the AP for that analysis of Babbington's, I was also quite annoyed with his own reading of selected parts of the speech BEFORE Obama delivered it. I thought that was self-serving and tactless.

I watched about the last half of it live, in HD, last night. I'll second whoever praised the production values. It was a very good show.

I just watched it for the first time (got Tiger Woods 09 this week without much time to play it, and was playing it when the convention ran last night). I was very impressed, but I already knew going into his speech who I planned on voting for. I'm more interested in hearing how the undecided people here felt about it, and whether that speech has any tangible impact upon how they may or may not vote come election time.

I think he did a great job of nudging those undecideds off the fence; but, as great an orator as he is, I also believe most undecideds will want to watch how the two campaigns are conducted in the run up to election day, and whether the candidates hold firm to their convention rhetoric.
