... to let them take over another election with lies and phony outrage and Swiftboat politics. Enough is enough.

Ok, let's elect this guy! I'm on board now. He's a hell of a speaker, and really got me with that one. Looks like I'm voting Obama in 08!

Is that tongue in cheek or are you serious? I thought it was a great speech.

Yes he is a great speaker. that tends to be the case with intelligent well educated people.
The problems tend to be that peple do not actually listen to what he's saying. to me that clip was the absolute truth. thanks for posting the entire clip San and not the 30sec. sound bite i've seen on other news stations today.

I'm very serious. I'm willing to elect him President. That doesn't mean I'm giving him a free pass when he's in office, nor do I believe everything will be sunshine and roses once he's in.
However, if the past 8 years has shown me anything, its that the approach the Republicans have adopted is not in line with how I think the country should be run.
I don't think we should stop the pursuit of terrorists, but we defenitely need to concentrate our efforts on 1 battlefield, so we do not lose ground where we have gained it.
We should ask for UN help in Iraq, as it is in the world's best interest that Iran's neighbor be stable, and free of extremists.
We should concentrate on the hunt for the Taliban in Afghanistan, and bring Bin Laden to justice.
We also need to take care of our own people here at home. The economy isn't doing so well, if you aren't a corporate type. Something needs to be done to stimulate the economy.
However, I don't want to have to pay higher taxes, and I would like gas food and prices to come down. I also want the Government to tighten its belt, without dropping the ball on National Security. I'm just hoping he can serve up that tall order, and he's not just another politician, saying what the people want to hear to get elected.

I wasn't knocking you at all; I was just asking the question as it's hard to discern from text.
And no one deserves a free pass when they are in a leadership position. I definitely agree with you there.
What I can't understand is how in the hell McCain can run on the "maverick" stance when he has been in the Senate forever..... How can they possibly believe we will buy that... however I like Palin and she does ring true as a woman that nobody truely can keep under their thumb....

Because there are exceptionally gullible people.

Between Obama and frankly Palin, I need to record some of these speeches to use as examples of public speaking in my class after the election. From a non-partisan viewpoint they're both great speakers.
Good speech - still, both candidates like to gloss over the actual details. He criticizes McCain, but doesn't go into any specifics about McCain's ideas versus his own. The art of saying something without really saying something.
