- Good article on re-emerging Asian economic dominance.
And quite logical, I reckon.

Very nice piece, and some eye-opening comments from those living in the country. I was impressed with the Professor acknowledging the damage that has been done to China, ecologically, from it's drive to develop.
China is struggling with developing it's own character; whether to maintain it's ties to the Communist/hard line controlling leadership, or to continue moving toward a capitalistic, free market society which will ultimately force a shift to a democratic system.
They could use a leader who can channel Teddy Roosevelt. :D

It's a bit like India. It's turning into a capitalist behemoth, but in the state of Maharastha (with roughly 80 million people) the electricity cuts out for something like eight hours a day.
One wonders whether these so called new 'Giants' of the coming century will be more like the Russia's of their day, as opposed to the Western Giants of say 19th century Britain or 20th century America, in that the system will not sustain itself at the top with the bottom being so rotten and depraved.
