"I have been diagnosed with lung cancer. Yes, it was quite a surprise."

Gee, maybe it was the 25 fucking years of smoking cigarettes, Peter... Oh, sure, he quit for 17 years, but since he was born in '38, it's a bit like polishing the brass on the Titanic.

I saw this on the news this morning and the only question I have pondered since is "why is this news?"

Does anyone honestly give a fuck?

Is Peter Jennings really such a celebrity?

To a reporter he is. The reason this is news speaks volumes about the state of journalism in this country.

Whatever happerned to the unbiased or hell even uninvolved reporter. It seems activism is required learning in journalism school now days.

I have to agree, who honestly gives a terd about him? I sure don't.

I mourn for his family.

It's unfortunate that he has lung cancer. It's also unfortunate that a few 10's of thousands of other people have lung cancer. Jennings is only different in that he has the ability to convey his state of health to a wide audience.
