Heh, when I wrote in the previous thread about politicians saying regrettable things on the spur of the moment, I had Nagin semi in mind. Here he provides my QED. He does say some crazy shit.

He does say whats on his mind thats for sure. But its a funny thing if you place what he said in perspective it makes sense. What he said is a very true statement and there is a huge difference in the rebuilding of a city than in what needs to be done in an area where 3 office buildings were destroyed.

I say NY should go with Trumps idea and rebuild the World Trade Centers and show the world that we will overcome anything that is thrown at us, it would also be a fitting memorial to those who were killed.

Dont just rebuild them, build them twice as high with a sign on the front,

Dont just rebuild them, build them twice as high with a sign on the front,

FUOBL.Not that I'm entirely opposed, but I do remember a certain mythological story about the arrogance of a people who built a tower to heaven...

My favorite idea for redesign was the internet photo of the buildings pulling a giant middle finger. I like the sentiment of that.

They do need to undertake a massive effort to rebuild the levies, the shoreline and yes build up the general elevation of the town.

It's been done before...I think it was Galveston (spelling) tx back in 1904?

Interestingly, many of those being interviewed in New York agree with the content of Nagin's statement, just not with the wording.

When put in the context of two separate disasters, neither of which has been adequately rehabilitated due to the many fingers in the pie and constituencies needing to be coddled, it is a fair question to ask; why after only one year do you expect an entire city to be further along than the area of three office buildings after five years, and in that comparison many in New York apparently agree.

(Sorry, my source was the interviews being conducted on FOX News)

Oh, and yeah. Huge stink over the seemingly insensitive statement all over the place. "The hole in the ground" really hit folks hard. 911 still plays strong on folks emotions. It's simply more than just a hole in the ground.
