Personally I have to wonder what she was doing in that area with an ex con, after midnight...because the way the whole thing went down suggests she and the guy with her were trying to score some drugs to me. If that's the case I really find it hard to feel sorry for her.

No reason for it, but it happens every day..if she didn't realize she may be putting herself in danger by going into one of the most notorious neighborhoods for gang/drug violence after midnight with someone that had a shady past...at age 31, after growing up nearby..

No matter how many times it happens a day, how many gang members there are and how totally normal it is. Its a murder. Its a tragedy, its fucked up! Maybe I am sick for actually thinking that any murder, no matter where and how, is wrong.

That's not what they are saying Taino. Murder is not "OK", but if you walk into a viper's nest knowing it is there, you should not be surprised when you are bit.

This is an area where gangs fight over the illegal drug distribution network daily. There is nothing condoned about it and it is not "OK" that they regularly kill each other over the right to sell cocaine on a particular street. But it is a fact of life there until such time as our country can curb it's appetite for narcotics.

Having grown up there and intimately known the environment, she knew what risk she was taking meeting with people of that ilk late at night. It is tragic that her lapse of judgment cost her life but she bears some of the responsibility herself for putting herself in danger. That is what people are saying.
