TBA I believe, unless they've given a date at the E3.

These kinda trailers are so dumb, its not even a trailer at all. A neat CGI video doesn't give you any idea whatsoever what the game will be like. Anyone can make a neat CGI video anymore, that doesn't say anything about the quality of their product.

What Kel said.

Although if this trailer is really invicadive of thier over all philosophy for the game design looking like it could be bad assed.

So far theres going to be Troopers, Smugglers, Jedi, and I believe Sith and Bounty Hunters. Not 100% sure on the last two. It is going to be a more story driven mmo. Which has me a bit worried but very interested. Full voice for npcs.

Been following this since it was announced.

Smuggler class preview. Interesting watch.

The 2 classes announced on the website are Bounty Hunter and Trooper, with Jedi and Sith being a given. I am sure Smuggler is one as well

Smuggler and Bounty Hunter are confirmed, as they were shown at E3.

And Kel, while I agree that these trailers really don't give you a feel for the game, they do get you excited about it and give you a feeling that you're playing part of a story line, which is exactly what they are trying to accomplish here.

And there aren't a lot of companies that can produce a CG video that epic.

Lets face it, for any game so far before its even been scheduled for a release, can be made to look good in a trailer.

I've been looking for any videos of the E3 press runthrough of the Bounty Hunter and Smuggler. A report of what was seen can be found here (http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6210951/star-wars-the-old-republic-impressions-combat-bounty-hunters-smugglers-and-gameplay?tag=top_stories;story;8), but I'm sure someone has video of it somewhere.

There are various hands on impressions all over the place. Such as this one:

Star Wars The Old Republic E3 Impressions: Ready to Play KOTOR 3 With a Few Thousand People? (http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1143)

Yes. Yes I am. You couldn't find a better way to describe exactly what I want from this game.

I always ignore hype for mmo's, the last one I got into this early before release was WoW. And Bioware is one of the few companies that I'd put on the same level as Blizzard, so I'm quite excited about this game.

Bioware's single player games are exceptional, but I can't help but feel NWN was pretty disappointing on an online multiplayer level. Hopefully they do better with this one.

Some fancy CGI isn't going to sell a good game to me, though, and I'm surprised so many of you are getting excited when they haven't really shown you any real gameplay yet.

I have to disagree. I thought the multi player was really good for its time, and the ability to create your own private levels/servers/ and gear was fantastic. Also this is gonna be an MMO so I don't think their multi player really can be compared too it.

My son has been doing a bit of studying on this.

Are they really going to allow Jedi as a starting class?

Good lord balance issues seem to be a concern no?

Kelraz Bladesinger

The problem with SWG is that anyone could become a Jedi and Jedi was infinitely more powerful than anything else. Their goal is to make Jedi and Sith equal to the other classes. After all, wasn't Han Solo just as powerful as Luke Skywalker in many ways?

Akom of Cazic Thule

Watch the video again. Its more telling about how they see the game's balance than you might have noticed at first. During the battle between the Jedi and the Sith, you see the bounty hunters (and possbily others) effectively using abilities against the Jedi. It happens quickly, though, so pay attention.

Also, Jedi in general aren't the uber powerful one man armies they are often painted to be. Remember that usually in the films we follow Jedi masters, or people who are especially powerful in the force, etc. The typical Jedi or Sith apprentice is not going to be anything near that level, and I would imagine that not every Jedi would achieve master status. Again, while you're watching the film, notice how many Jedi and Sith are mowed down, not only by the masters, but by eachother and other classes.

I feel that Bioware will do a good job with the balancing, and it won't take anything away from the game if all of the classes have the potential to be as powerful as the Jedi in their own right.

It would not be hard to balance Jedi with other classes. SWG was just a steaming pile of crap besides its crafting system.

Jedd Corpse

All you have to do is give each class something special that even in lore a Jedi cannot defend against... Fire from a bounty hunter, an explosive shot which rattles the Jedi and knocks him to the floor. Give the Bounty hunter the ability to fly for a few seconds to evade a Jedi, along with the fire and a knockdown AE type damaging attack, and suddenly it is a class that rocks in PVP.

Give a smuggler, or a trooper, stun grenades and such that knock down a jedi and you once again found a way to bypass the "Jedi are unkillable by non jedi" thing.

I forsee the battles being more tactical as a bunch of jedi just running into each other and fighting is just the beginning... I see Bounty Hunters targeting and knocking down/splash damaging jedi, while the other classes have skills of their own to make the jedi just another class.

Of course, they could just make a huge mistake and give every class a counter, with bounty hunter being the Jedi/Sith counter as it kinda was in the movies with Jango owning Jedi in the Arena.

If I'm home alone I'll turn the sound on, and there are some great elements in many games. More often than not I'm using voice chat, so the game gets turned down, or watching TV with my wife while playing. Sometimes I'm just rocking out to my iPod. I don't me to pick at them, I just thought it was funny how excited they sounded in the video over all of this voice work that too many gamers will miss. On the other hand, that's the sort of detail that makes so many Bioware games awesome.

It looks like a fabulous single player or co-op game. The combat and everything seems really epic and a lot of fun, but I can't help but think that the elaborate storylines are either going to be pretty linear OR very time consuming to add content to - never mind re-playability when you have to sit through the long yapping from the npcs every time. It will be interesting to see if it translates over to a MMO well. Didn't EQ2 try a lot of this and then punt when they realized how difficult it would be? I can't help but feel like it would work so much better if they sold it more like Diablo2 than an EQ / WoW (play it through once or a few times but its the same (or similiar), with friends or by yourself)

You can turn just the music off. I run with game sounds but my own music. (or podcasts or audiobooks or radio etc)

EQ2s voice overs were cool the first 2x you heard them but when you heard the same annoying NPCs saying the same annoying shit you wanted to slap them. In fact as a pally having castigate I could AE the NPCs and it was fun to do to people like "Have you been to the castle? I want to go there somday!" kid.

But this seems different, for one you choices dictate the outcome so I can see some replay value b/c when you play again maybe you choose a different option. I would hope though that they put in some sort of skip function for those who are lazy or with ADD and can't want to or don't want to sit thru it.

One thing I do see as an issue is the size of the game/content. Those .vpak files from EQ2 made the game huge my game folder is approaching 30GB these days.

Either way, I'm sold and will try this :)
