Only in the military...

1. You're expected to show up 15 minutes early for an appointment and you wind up waiting 30 minutes before you see a doctor.

2. They put people in a tiny, cramped room that is periodically invaded by your boss and don't understand why you don't like living there

3. They keep the people who want to get out and they kick out the people who want to stay in and they don't understand why morale is low

4. Your supervisor has no idea how to do your job, but grades you on how you do it anyway

5. You are treated like a 3rd grader but you are told to act like an adult

6. The people who work in customer service fields are nastier than Drill Instructors

7. Convicts clean your office

8. They buy the cheapest equipment, and then spend a fortune trying to make it useful

9. You go to the emergency room and you are told to come back in two days to see if your ailment gets any worse

10. You are trusted with millions of dollars worth of equipment, hundreds of social security numbers, sensitive government information...but no one trusts you to go to the gym by yourself

11. Alcoholism is considered bad, but not after 3pm

12. A McDonald's employee makes more than you

13. You have to be in person to sign a leave form for security purposes, but someone can get your records over the phone

14. They give you a job that only takes 30 minutes to complete, and expect you to stay busy for 5 days

15. The Military Police has more DUI's and drug-related charges than anyone else on base

16. You can get sent to train for a job that has nothing to do with your actual job

/cough...

1: Ok find me a doctor's office where you *never* have to wait, please I'd really like to know.

2: With the exception of the training enviroment, you rarely have cramped living areas, most you have a dorm room larger than at most colleges. (This of course depends on which post you're at some still suck ass)

3: People they usually want to keep = smart, smart people like going to college and earning more money in the civilian world. Bad people = dumb and try to get out, but hey usally arent smart enough to realize the easiest way out is to just finish your contract.

4: Hmm lets see, my supervisor is a medic too... but this oen is kinda half true cause it happens still, but not all the time.

5: Stuff is written for the 3rd grade level to be easy enough to understand for everyone, I mean c'mon we have marines still...

6: Yep

7: Well, he says he's innocent, but they keep a pretty close eye on em.

8: most stuff gets put through a series of rigorous tests, like my E-tool garaunteed to bludgeon at least 100 insurgents before breaking

9: Drink water, it'll grow back

10: Always need a spotter, besides never go anywhere without your battle buddy, keeps those crazy types from making any sort of false accusations.

11: 5pm we're civilized for God's sake

12: Actually, http://www.military.com/Resources/ResourcesContent/0,13964,49020,00.html A guy just getting in at the very very bottom might make as little as a mcdonalds worker, but a guy like me, few years in, it's a whole lot more. find me a mcdonalds that pays me 16.25/hour plus extra for living in Alaska and gives me free healthcare, and I'll work there.

13: Duh, yeah don't worry Sarge I'll call right before I start my leave...

14: Hello, it's called Shamming, an important skill for every soldier, how do you think train us to become senior NCO's ...

15: If your job sucked that bad, you'd drink all the time too

16: hey knowing how to repair the firins system on an M1A1 sooo applies to my job

Yeah number 12 was the one I found to be the biggest crap. Granted when you just are starting out, your pay is pathetic...however, your meals are free and so is your housing, cause chances are you are living on base. I'm AF though. I don't have to sleep in the dirt like you ground pounders. :)
