How many black eyes can a nominee take?
In the last week we have heard Cindy McCain adamantly state that she will release no tax records, because she is running for no office (which I do agree with, being she should not be obligated to give up her privacy); we have heard the McCain voted against the MLK holiday (which any good spin control folks should be able to figure out a way to blunt the impact of); and now, we are seeing that his people are unable to properly check out the folks they hire to avoid getting the nose bloodied.
If the McCain campaign continues with such gaffes that do nothing but provide distractions and give the opposition ammunition, how do they expect to be able to run an effective campaign for the Presidency?

This is going to hurt McCain, but you have to realize how these lobbying firms work. They represent a wide variety of interests. It takes a ton of work to check out all your employees' history, including their firms and every single group they have represented. Anyone who votes against him for this is an idiot.

You are right, however you know that Obama will use something like this to simply show why having lobbyists run your campaign is wrong. If he hammers that fact in enough, it can hurt McCain a lot, as he continues to connect the dots between McCain and Lobbyists.

Obama could use it as ammunition, but it could come back to bite him in the ass.
You are not a member of the United States Congress if you do not cater to special interests. Double for the Senate.
All the majoring lobbyist firms have 'residential homes' right near the capitol building where they are allowed to lobby members with few restrictions. Each and every member gives audience to these groups. Lobbyists have their hands in everything.
I'm not sure which groups Obama has dealt with, but I can assure you that they are many. I'm not sure it's a wise political move to start throwing shit over something that they're all guilty of.

That is one of the larger drawbacks to our political system, and how campaigns are run. Those not paying particular attention to the issues of a campaign may remember the last negatives they heard about a candidate more than speeches and debates.
I would not hesitate to guess at least half of all votes cast in our national elections are by people who have little if any knowledge of the stands a candidate is taking on the issues of the day, but are voting on what they have heard on television and radio commercials.
Even my mother, who has the television going most of the day on varied news channels, has tried to argue with me on candidates based on stuff that we all have seen to be proven false; she is just not as fortunate to be able to read all our links. :D
