LOL, I found the comments to the story almost as funny as the story itself, showing the folks that were writing to be almost as stupid as the Senator.

Maxine Waters can threaten to nationalize the oil industry until she is blue in the face, but the simple fact (which obviously those commentators were unaware of) is that a Senator cannot do anything unless a majority of the other Senators, and then the same with the House, can pass veto-proof legislation.

With enough earmarks, even the worst bill passes.

This comment is pure gold!

This is the reason democrats can’t control congress and the presidency with no checks and balances.

Havent we seen this somewhere before? recently.

Well, truth be told, everyone said Venezuela wouldn't dare nationalize their industry - and look what happened? As China buys up more and more US businesses the chance that we nationalize in the distant future is growing by the minute. It would piss China off to holy hell, but its not like its an impossible option. Our oil on the other hand comes like 80% from Canada and Mexico, and I doubt we'll want to annoy our immediate neighbors.

Venezuela was nationalized by the leader of the country, not by an obscure member of the Senate.

Especially since they don't have a Senate ;) And Representative Waters isn't a member of the Senate either, and she's hardly obscure. A little loony, sure, but not obscure :)

So, it was a long day, and Senate was only two syllables and legislature was too long to type.

I would post a really long and painful rant about big oil, profits, monopolies, commodities, supply/demand, etc. I realize none of that is relevant anymore. What is relevant is that me and my neighbors have some super sharp pitch forks and the day of reckoning is approching quickly.

Fear not, the next season of Dancing with the Stars will steal your righteous thunder and advertise to you in the process.

Well, something has to distract the masses now that the American Idol for this year has been chosen....

I'm sorry, the title of this thread makes me think of Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts in Knotting Hill when he keeps saying it and she keeps calling his manhood into question for saying it. I don't know why but that is the only thing that came to mind when I read the title.

Regarding Idol and Dancing with the Stars.... I just don't get it. Why do people watch this shit? People stand in the breakroom and talk about it and then ask me if I saw blah blah blah and I'm like uuuuuuuh no sorry I prefer quality shows to garbage. Of course I then start a war about how awesome Idol is.

You could compare both Idol and Dancing with sports shows. I enjoy sports, but I've never understood people who watch games religiously, and can spout off stats for some obscure player who retired years ago. Worse, they insist on reciting these statistics endlessly. Is there really a difference? This sort of celebrity worship isn't new, it's just spreading - which I think was the point of the original post.
