So a while ago someone said a common phrase, take it "with a grain of salt", and it got me thinking about how there are so many phrases that we use in every day speech that we don't know the origins of. A couple days ago I was bored so I decided to do some googling and came upon this page:

Its nothing "official", but most of them seem to make sense and have merit.
Maybe its just the way my mind works but I love learning about stuff like this. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading through them, so I figured I'd share them with you.
