Yeah I've been once or twice. Fun to play out in a large woods/forest setting. One time I played in January when the paintballs were nice and hard... wow, it really makes you think twice about getting hit!

Sweet! I played for 10 hours last saturday for the first time in about 16-17 years. Been obssesing on it ever since.

got me a starter set up off craigslist today. gun , tank, hopper, thermal mask, shute, and cocksock all for 30$. old rental setup. gun bodys a Pirahna. not great but servicable.

Obligatory comedic attempt inc.

How in the hell do you guys play in LA? you run around hiding behind the homeless? piles of garbage? celebrities? you get bonus points if it Haris Pilton?
Hmm well ok i can maybe see a good strat here some of dem LA girls have really nice 'bunkers"

Back before my company took off I used to take day acting work pretending to be a terrorist/criminal/hostage/etc. for government training exercises where I'd get shot to shit with paintball guns. Sure we got to fight back, but they were professionals :(

I used to play a ton in highschool w/ my scout troop.

LOL no no no... it is only a 45 minute drive to Castaic. That area has a big lake, 2 paintball locations and a magic mountain, all out of the city.

Basically they really only can set up shop in the middle of nowhere :)

Quite a few companies set up in old buildings and run urban paintball games.

I've only done the forest camps but I've friends who've done the urban and they love it. I'm suprised LA doesn't have urban warfare paintball camps.

Doesn't someone on here have thier own paintball shop/Area for matches? I seem to remember someone in the south.

I used to play on an amateur league, did pretty well also! It was a ton of fun, but eventually the cost is what had me stop playing.

I had (at the time) two Angels, a Shocker 4x4 and a AutoMag RT. Then there was the gazillion of accessories, hoppers, tubes, low pressure tank, high pressure tank, co2 rig for the shocker. Then there was the uniform stuff we needed, blah blah blah. We got a deal on paint from our store sponsor, but I would still go through 2-3 cases on a weekend of practice, and then God help me but about 4 on a tournament day. If it was a 2 day tournment, then I shot at least 6 cases of paint.

I was spending, easily $1k a month in paintball related expenses, and then hotel fees, food etc etc etc when we were at tourneys.

I'll be damned if it wasnt fun as hell though, I still get pumped when I talk about the paintball days with my friends. I havent played in 5-6 years now though and am afraid to go play again. I'm concerned that I'd get sucked back in and blow through my cash again.

My nephew is obsessed with paintball, so much so that he spent all his money on paintball shit rather than pay his car payments and thus got it repoed this month. I don't get the hook but after reading these posts I see his enthusiasm isn't unmatched.

Lol, thats funny. I was just thinking that I would like to try paint ball, and was going to look up where its played in my area, and now Jedd has answered that.

Do you know the name of the place in Castaic, Jedd? I'm in Ventura, so its just right up the 126 for me.

Warped Paintball park... and there is another nearby which I think is called California paintball park or something like that.

Warped is smaller and cheaper, and the other is more expensive but has much cooler fields.

WOW man now that is getting into it a bit. why i'm keeping it on the cheap atm alot of things to want to have so i'll just build up slowly.

One of the guys in the local "club" has 5 acres of wooded property. minus the house and yard between 3.5 and 4 acres of woods to play in. perfect for small crowds and all it costs ya is your paint for the day and whatever you can afford to throw in the donation box for your Co2 fill ups.

Yea, I was way overboard in to it. By no means are those expenses "the norm". Anyone playing the occasional weekend can get away with a hell of a lot less. A decent weekend warrior paint marker will run ~ $250, at least it did back when I played.

Great fun though, great fun!
