"Well that was to be expected you are a patriotic American and I do have a different opinion."

So you insult hundreds of millions of people in a country because of what one person said to you on a board?

"I think therefore I am."

You must exist on a different plane of existing because there's not a lot of evidence of you thinking on this one...at least not with that statement.

You have already admitted that the topic of this thread is not "very threatening".

"The second version is alot more general and not very threatening in itself"

Yet you continue to try to argue that around that question and warp it into a new discussion about a very different subject.

Here ya go Balog try this (cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2857199112&category=3035 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2857199112&category=3035)) until you can quit dancing around the question.

You have a good point Ail,
I would like to appologize to the patriotic Americans that don't threaten people who have a different opinion.

I learned alot in this threat, especially about the difference in discussing between Euro's and American's.
Euro's try to have an inpersonal discussion based on arguments.
Most American's that visit this board want a personal discussion spiced up with abusive, rude personal comments.
Not all just most, they wanne make it personal, emotional and in you're face.
More a streetfight then a discussion really.
Not a style I'm used to but certainly very interesting.
I'm not used to people taking general arguments and discussions personal.

Oh, that is because everyone in the US is armed and ready to whip out their personal firearm of choice and let fly with the lead.

So we know that any disagreement is going to result in gunplay.

funny to nobody but himself, it seems

I in turn apologize for the not thinking insult.

"Most American's that visit this board want a personal discussion spiced up with abusive, rude personal comments"

I think we can agree on some :')

"I'm not used to people taking general arguments and discussions personal. "

I think is done too often on this board..on both sides. Makes any kind of useful dialog difficult at best. I really try hard not to be one of them, and if I do...try to apologize when I do.
Look forward to disscusing thing in the future with you.

Now, now. I wouldn't generalize your avoidance of direct questions to all Europeans.

I think Balog fornicates with small furry vegetables and likes to play with himself while singing, "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary" in a bathtub full of horse vomit.

Let's discuss this rationally now shall we?

Quit threatening him Zehn. He's hiding under the covers with a butter knife and calling the police as we speak.

Halo, I would tell you to suck my cock again, but last time I said that to you the thread went horribly, horribly awry.

So piss off Mrs Lovejoy.

I'm not. I'm bringing up a serious issue that needs discussion. There are people who like to shove heated glass tubes into their peeholes and then break them off. We need to discuss the issue of Balog being a cockwhore.

But we must be levelheaded about it! I hate when things get personal.

Going back, let me clarify what I personally took offense to.

Balogh stated the following during his rebuttal to LL:

"This is the new threat the world is facing and it does not come from the middle east it comes from the USA."

Balogh may very well feel that the US is a threat to the world and that is his right. It is my right to view that statement as an insult to the US, and by extension to Americans such as myself.

When someone accuses you of being the threat to the world that Hitler was, even in a general sense, you tend to take offense. I hope that clarifies things a bit.

There are people who like to shove heated glass tubes into their peeholes and then break them off.

Do they fill these glass tubes with salt first?
And do they have pie afterwards?

Well you still cant seem to answer Balog so you have graduated from just wearing ballerina shoes to this( cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3432234113&category=11465 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3432234113&category=11465))

I guess I've just been skipping over this, but have any of the Angry-Euros(tm) come out and said exactly what verbage in the Pledge makes them all scared of our school-children yet?

I mean, honestly, I might have missed it sandwiched inbetween the glass-rod-penis posts, so I'm just asking if we got an answer that I missed somewhere.

If we did, could someone re-state their objection, please.

Palimax,
Your implying that the euros have a valid point, which, based on the last 14 pages have driven me to the conclusion that they do not.

Palimax,
Your implying that the euros have a valid point, which, based on the last 14 pages have driven me to the conclusion that they do not. Well, the validity of their point is up for debate. That's for sure...

I'm just asking if I could get a recap about what VERBAGE in the Pledge that people objected to.

Gulor Gularin
09-26-2003, 10:35 PM
My understanding is that it is not the verbage that they have issue with, it is that the ritual is tied to patriotism and is more or less imprinted on us at an impressionable age. It boils down to how we view patriotism versus how they view it. To us, it's part of our culture and tradition and is a desirable trait. To them, it is evil brainwashing and a precursor to world conquest or something like that.

Palimax Sceleris
09-26-2003, 10:37 PM
I know that Gulor. I know we brainwash our children to be imperialists; and I know that the Eruos are onto us.

Someone, posts and posts ago, objected to the wording of the Pledge, and then babbled on about two-versions of the Pledge (and whatnot). I was wondering if they ever answered the "what words" question.

Gulor Gularin
09-26-2003, 10:41 PM
Nope, it turned out he was basing his arguments on someone's paraphrasing of the Pledge, not the actual Pledge itself. He later recognized that error after it was clarified and dropped some of his concerns.
