Is it being plugged in through the motherboard? Have you read up on it with the MB's manual?

SATA works just like SCSI. This means that it won't auto detect like an IDE drive. When you boot windows xp from CD, you'll see something like "press F6 to install a 3rd party scsi or raid driver." Do that, it should be on a disc that came with your motherboard. If not, you'll need to download it from the mobo manufacturer website and put it on diskette.

Once the driver is installed, windows installation program will continue normally. Hope this helps.
