Confirmed: The White Council and the attack on Dol Guldur will be included in The Hobbit movies. Courtesy of Peter Jackson, he has allowed us to see just such a scene in action, with Gandalf, Galadriel, and Elrond on the offensive:

Man, it's hard to believe LOTR is a decade old now. I think something about the staged release of both the films and DVDs over 20001-2005 left less of a temporal anchor. Also, that there have been no real landmark films since.

Couldn't agree more mate. Still, think of all the geek-juice we can get out of a 2-year release, plus dvd release, plus extended dvd release...! *dribbles*
