If you have some free time, you might look over the results of a couple large scale (question-wise) polls (http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=253) from the Pew Research Center. The questions cover a variety of headline-grabbing topics, from abortion to stem cells to the death penalty. Some results are surprising (e.g., white evangelical viewpoints lack the solidarity one might expect, though I'm not sure if/how it affects their voting).

Well, it proves religion is not its own political party with a unified stance.....yet.
