So I get this email supposedly from PayPal to confirm my account info, only theres no link to a fake website but it has a number to call so you can give your credit card info over the phone.

Phishing is getting simply sophisticated...BEWARE!

You have received this email because we have strong reason to belive that your PayPal account had been recently compromised. In order to prevent any fraudulent activity from occurring we are required to open an investigation into this matter.
If your Credit/Debit Card on file is not updated within the next 48 hours, then will assume this account is fraudulent and will be suspended. We apologise for this inconvenience, but the purpose of this verification is to ensure that your PayPal account has not fraudulently used and to combat fraud attempts.
To speed up the process, you are required to call us (1-805-214-4801) to verify your PayPal account.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you and we would like to thank you for cooperation as we review this matter.

im kinda curious about calling that number to see how extreme its really gotten, if they have a paypal tele script all written out to talk to people who call and such.

Give PayPal a heads up on it? Tracking down that phone # should be easy enough for the FBI I would think...

LOl...I sent a copy of the email to PayPal, before that I also phoned the FBI office in Allentown and was told that I should go to their website and look on there to see how to report it to them. I then pointed out that I was reporting it to them and that there was a phone number on the email which would probably help them in figuring out who was doing it...they said again that I should go to the FBI site to see how to report it...kind of retarded.

Anyhow, I tracked the number to a VOIP company in California, when I called them and gave them the info they said it was a number that is assigned to them but it is not active, so I told them to call it, they did and seemed surprised that it was active. They said they would handle it...lol...seems like an inside job perhaps.

It never ceases to amaze me how low some people are with their scams :( Good for you for reporting it and tracking it down!
