Get the Canon. They almost always have the best optics and lenses.

I agree with Sanchek. Olympus is really good too, and they have some very neat features, but the rebel takes better pictures.

I have a Canon I use everyday at work, and love it.

The digital Rebel is a better camera. Buy me one too? :p

I have a Nikon D70s and a Nikon D100 I love both of them but I have alot of Nikon stuff already so it made since to buy a new body that fit what I had. Now I do have 2 older Canon SLR's that I use at work and they are ok but I really am partial to the 2 Nikon's I have.
