I had one cat. I got him when I was in school- before I was married, even.

Then Delyth moved in with me, and she came equipped with an old, smelly cat with huge fangs named Cindy that she took home when her great aunt died. Not so bad - we had two cats then.

Then Delyth went to work for the SPCA. She brought home two kittens because they were out of room and wanted us to "foster" them- once there was room, they could go back. And they did! I thought.. hey, that wasn't so bad, we got a couple of kittens for a week and then they went away.

Shortly after that, Delyth came home with a story about how they found a cat duct taped in a box, half dead, infested with ticks, fleas and lice and (apparently) missing one eyball. It was amazing the cat was still alive. To make a long story shorter, the cat came home in an attempt to avoid the death penalty (Delyth spent a lot of time euthanatizing animals that were on the cusp). We named her Bertoxxulous, and she is still with us- and she has both eyes, one was just so infected and cut that it only appeared to be gone.
Three cats. Three cats is plenty, right? More than enough, really.

No.

Delyth came home with a box 'o kittens. Evidently, their mother was hit by a car, and the family did not know what to do with them. They were very small- in fact, they opened their eyes the first night we had them. I was between contracts, so I spent a lot of time feeing Goodspy, Badspy and Fuzzyspy. The understanding was that we'd send them back to the SPCA once they were old enough to be adopted, because three cats is plenty, RIGHT?

Fuzzyspy got sick and died in the first week. However, Badspy and Goodspy are still with us.

Five cats. Five.

I'll not even talk about the "imperial russian hampsters" or the other animals, either. You can get a good idea of things from the cats.

So, for all you city folks out there: Never let a country raised, ranger playing woman move in with you. You'll wind up with a small horde of animals.

Where do I start my Story.

We couldn't have dogs or cats in our apartment, before we bought our house, so we decided to get birds.

We bought a cockatiel and my wife named it Precious. She decided that Precious was lonely while we were at work, so we bought another one, and named it Baby.

A month or two later, she see's a wonderfully colored Lutino Cockatiel and we buy it. It's name is Pika(Because of the all yellow and red cheeks). About 6 month's go by, and my wife sees another cockatiel she likes. It liked her right off the bat, let her pet it and hold him and such. His name is Turkey.

So now we have Precious, Baby, Pika, and Turkey. As if that wasn't enough, we go to the pet store and they are having a sale on Lovebirds.

We go home with Squeaker and Petey, our new lovebirds.

A month goes by and my wife gets this Ferret fetish. We end up getting Xena, and albino ferret. Wife decides Xena gets lonely with only the birds to talk to during the day, so we get her a companion named Cocoa.

We move into our new house right after getting the last ferret, and we are offered a little silver/grey colored kitten. His name is Simon.

Precious became deathly ill and died, so the head count comes to:

3 Cockatiels
2 Lovebirds
2 Stinky Ferrets
And a Kitten who claws the coutch.

I won't go into the hamster fiasco, or turtle fiasco, but I did manage to give those away.

Our family is complete, and I don't think we will see any new additions soon. Only time will tell.

if your kitten is still a kitten, try to get him used to a scratching post, i did that with my kittens, when they would start to claw something i would put them infront of the scratching post, sooner or later they started to head for the post when ever they would want to claw something

Since we're telling cat stories here...

The day after Christmas, 1984, I was in back in Texas after a few year odyssey of going off to and flunking out of school, joining and getting tossed out of the Air Force (medical), and I was working in a convenience store and trying to figure out if there was a nonfreeway way to actually bicycle from Arlington to Hurst so that I could go to community college. There had been a freak snow that day and so the store was dead, and as I strolled around the aisles straightening up I noticed a little orange kitten, about half grown, prowling around the front of the store. I figured that she must be half frozen out there and opened the door hoping to coax her in; not only did she not hesitate, but she strolled right in with her tail straight up in the air quite as if she owned the place, and spent some time prowling the aisles as if inspecting them to see if they would do ;) . I took my coat off and made a little bed out of it next to my spot at the register and when she had explored the place to her satisfaction, she curled up and went to sleep at my feet. As I examined her I noticed that she was still wearing a pink pet store collar with her birthdate on it; evidently she had been someone's Christmas present. I did make an effort to locate her original owner, but they never came forward, and believe to this day that she 'chose' me for some reason :) (Maybe it was the word 'sucker' in neon on my forehead ;) ).

I took her home and Big Girl (although she never weighed more than 8 pounds) was my companion for 17 1/2 years, through eight moves, two long term relationships, a marriage, and a household that eventually contained three other cats. She was intelligent and sweet, self-possessed and yet affectionate in a very unobtrusive way and we developed a bond that I haven't had with another pet before or since. I had to say goodbye to her just over a year ago, but think of her often, and can say that I have definitely felt her presence a couple of times since her departure as well...

I'll post a pic if I get time to get it hosted :) .

I grew up on a farm. I miss our cats - we had BIG ones, not these wuss cats you see in the city (heh). At one point, we had 18 of 'em - yeah, Dad just loved that.

They're so darn handy. Dog bothering you? Pick up the 15 lb tomcat. Hold him near the dog. SMACK. Dog moves on. Scratch the cat behind the ears.

The main tomcat was a neighborhood cat. He'd sometimes walk the fields with us during the summer. Our neighors, who lived miles away, would suddenly have kittens even though they didn't have any male cats. I'll be darned - some of the kittens have splotches of black and gray? Guess ol' Tom's been busy!

My cat story:

While still in college, I was driving home through my sub division. When out of Nowhere some cat bolts infront of my car (It was fleeing the clutches of a young child at the time) I promptly ran over the cat and it made a horrible mess of my car!

So I get out to have a look at the aftermath The kid is screaming/crying making a horrible racket when the mom comes out of the house. She see's me young kid, sports car, Loud music, and dead cat. She immediately loses it and starts yelling at me. I try and explain what exactly happened and all she is doing is talking about how I wasn't paying attention and she even went so far as to say I should buy her a new cat lol. After getting yelled at for somthing that was completly an accident.

I turned to the women and said "Look at the bright side now you can buy a dog like any sane person would". I hoped back in my car totally forgeting about the dead cat under my front wheel so I crushed it again with my back wheel.

I smiled to myself and though well it wasn't all bad one less damned cat and another neighbor pissed off with me. I promptly drove home sprayed down the car and went in and had a beer while watching the football game and playing with my dogs :)

Damned cats!

Still, nice cars and rotary engines are fun.

Yeah, but I wanted a s2000 for a long time. The looks, the handling, and the speed are well worth it. If you've never driven one, I'd highly suggest you go test drive one sometime, you won't be dissapointed.

Nydia Ywalmoriel

I never had a RX-7 (although my dad was pushing me to buy one as my first car - for some reason I wanted a volkswagen), but years later had a 1978 Fiat Spyder convertable (with that fabulous *one* wheel rear wheel drive ;) ). I drove it until one day had to slam on the brakes hard to avoid an accident... and the A-frame broke. A sad day indeed it was...

Back to the original topic, I have two 'tomcat' stories. The first is quite old; when I was a little girl we had a black and white longhair former stray (and prodigious hunter, we would find his dismemberment piles in the bushes even into his old age) named Friendly, who as you might expect, was pretty... friendly. One week my father agreed to let us board his best friend's german shorthair puppy whom he was training to be a bird dog. This pup was about 4 months old and couldn't leave Friend alone. He came up to him while Friend was sitting on a downed log minding his own business and tried to sniff him. Friend stood his ground. Fritz's nose moved closer, and closer... Friendly puffed up a bit but he wasn't giving up his spot. The dog moved in for the big nudge and snort and Friendly decided he had had enough and hauled back and laid that dog's nose wide open. The dog yelped and whirled around and looked shocked and finally ran off; the cat just continued sitting where he was at...

The second story involves my recently deceased (last month, at 15 1/2) tom, Worthy. Worthy was a large (14 lbs in his prime), longhaired black tom with not a bit of fat on him - he was just long and muscular. He was also as timid as a mouse and would run for cover if anyone besides me entered the house... unless the intruder was a dog :) . One night I was cleaning my apartment, which opened right onto a large grassy area at that time, when a Chow came sniffing into the place. Worthy came out from under the couch, puffed out into a big ball and with his tail standing straight up in the air and went flying at that dog. The dog yelped and went running out the door, across the lawn and out across the parking lot, with my scaredy-cat right on his heels. A group of teenaged boys came through the parking lot at that time and saw this big dog heading for the hills with a cat right on his tail and about fell down laughing. I saw him repeat this behavior several times with other dogs during his life, in his old age joined by my little grey female, who is my sole cat now, alas :) . I'm trying to decide if I should get another kitten, or wait for one to choose us, as she has a little black stray friend she hangs out with occasionally...

I'm sure the S2000 rocks; I just don't want to drop that kind of coin.

I love cat superiority stories.

So the entire cat kingdom was ruled by the orange tabbey that we picked up at a church picnic. Kids were throwing her in the air to see if she'd land on her feet. We brought her home and fed her, she produced 2 litters of kittens each year like clockwork.

One day Mom decided we were going to get a dog, because a cousin was going to take a shepherd/collie mix to the pound. We were gone one day, but the gas guy was out filling up our big fuel tanks. He hears barking and screaming, looks up, the the tabbey cat is on the dogs back riding her around the house in circles. He hits the ground laughing.

The dog was quite docile around the cats after that.

Esbat
08-28-2003, 11:40 PM
I would not say cats are superior to dogs...

Ever see a cat that lost a fight with a dog? Yes, it happens. Most dogs will run away when they get tagged in the nose; some dogs will fight back since they are trying to show dominance. Not pretty if you get something like a husky or a rottie chewing on your cat.

But hell... dogs are fine as pets. I just lived in places where having a dog meant having a little yapping dog due to size constraints... and cats beat little yappy dogs any day.

you want to possibly [add] a turbo?
i hope you dont expect to drop a greddy snap on your stock engine. After 30,000 miles you will destroy it, its not reinforced or at all intended for that. Unless you got a rebuilt b20 or b16 it is absolutely stupid to add one, especially for street driving.

I hope by 'Rice Burnas' you don't mean all imports. I hate rice too. Lol... Ferrarri 355GT pulls up against you on the line. Rice!!!

I'd classify 'rice' as frankly any (import or domestic) 4-popper compact with performance exhaust, stickers or bodymods. Though I suppose you do have to show a little respect when they've got the go without the 'fartcannon' sound or the show.

I suppose the day will eventually come when my stock 03 Mach1 will lose to some sticker-covered turbo v6 with NOS that some punkass 18yr old's parents bought for him, but it hasn't happened yet.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know a whole lot about cars/engines...

That said, I know there is a turbo that works fine with the s2000. It's a pain in the ass to install, very expensive, but it's well worth it. After I get that I will prob get new turbo cams and then my vtec controller. Not sure about the control though, I heard the stock x-overs are fine as is.

And as for body mods, I'm looking at a veilside body kit. It's expensive, but I love the look.

And then not following through with the performance upgrades.

It is my dream to put a three rotor 20B in my RX-7 and keep everything else looking close to stock (except the crap heavy rims that were on the 87 model).

Another thing for everyone: If you are not being sponsored by Mugen or Racing Beat or Summit- anybody, really and you are covering your car with their stickers. They should be PAYING YOU for advertising their product you clueless tools!

LA is filled with rice, i dont really notice anymore BUT, last weekend something actually caught my eye and i had to do a double take

There was a E36 BMW, convertible (old body, not the VERY old, but 92-98 i think), it had ALTEZZAs~ and a wing on a wing (one of those rice dbl wings)...but altezzas, on a bmw, wow. it was fucken ugly, very gay...

also, what i find hilarious, why do idiots with front wheel drive cars put wings on their cars? They only INCREASE drag...

people dont realize that the heavy body kits that stick miles out, increase drag, add weight, and look crazy ugly. wings do nothing for hondas, stickers dont add speed, foldger coffe cans are the same thing as your greedy SUPER killer bee attack exhaust, even with all that and a CAI you are only adding at max 15hp to your car...thats great except a civic has 140 stock (the better models) + 15 = 165, aka SLOW. But...we all realize half the rice rockets are like 88 sentras that have 80hp...thus a stock goped can smoke it...

S2000 with a greedy snap on would be fast as hell though, you better talk to someone who knows bout engines, putting a turbo on a car meant for NA fucks up the engines fast...you wouldn't wanna blow your shit

Getting back to the subject of the thread - I rescued three abandoned 4-week old kittens. That pic elemak posted was one of them. There are two other black females.

I'm trying to find them homes since I already have two kittens/almost cats and I can't really afford to take one time-wise since right now I'm in the hole way bad for money and might even have to look for a second job.

They are adorable though. Sound like dog squeaky toys, yet you don't even have to squeeze them.

I anticipate that I'll end up being one of those cat ladies when I'm older. You know, one of those crazy old bags that has far too many cats and throws them at you if you knock on her door.

With most types of forced induction you HAVE to maintain your oil, as it is cycled through the lubrication system for the blower itself.

Low boost systems, usually only increase the cylinder pressure/stress load about 12-15%. Not a huge increase. I don't know about high boost systems.

I chose to build up and transplant in another race ready engine rather than do bolt on forced induction.

If you add forced induction (or increase boost in a car that already has it) fuel management becomes HUGE. First thing is having to (in many cases) switch from the lower octane fuel to at *least* premium grade- and it might mean going to the airport to get 100+ octane aviation fuel if you are doing very high end things.

Most of my experience is with Rotory Engines, which are... fickle. Very, very fickle, but I like the concept =)

Here is a little article about taking an engine all the way-
