I loved EQ. But with all the crap talking they did about how thier customers were "lucky" they were letting em buy a PS3 for only 600, I hope they choke on it.

Well I have a 360 and a Wii and I do not plan to ever buy a PS3. It's so true; it didn't live up to the hype.

I bought a Wii, and that will be my only next gen barring a 360 if the price drops low enough.

Im buying a Wii. I might also break down and get a 360 for the HD DVD player, since its faster than the Toshiba out there atm.

I kinda have this feeling that with the power of the ps3 that its going to be around longer. I feel that when the xbox360 is starting to lose steam and consumers are looking for the next gen system. Ps3's system will still be leagues ahead of xbox360 and it has room for add on improvements. With years gone by the price of the ps3 will have gone down significantly. Is sony maybe again Future Proofing a product instead of building it for the here and now?

Don't give them too much credit mog with that whole battery recall thing they couldn't afford a big loss and it looks they got one anyway.

I really dont consider future proofing has a good thing, they have to many problems to deal with now to worry about the future. There system does look compared to the xbox like it can last many more years and still be considered next gen.

Thanks to Moore's Law, I wouldn't count on the extra power extending the PS3's life by much.

Actually i think the battery recall was voluntary. There wasn't any (or not much) incidents with any explosions or such so was a prudent move on Sony's part imho. (correct me if i'm wrong please)
I'm not a big sony fan but it seems to be fashionable to harp on every little thing they do nowadays. Gets to the point where its more annoying than anything right now. Just don't buy if you don't like em.They may be stupid mostly, but not everything they make is bad or destined to failure. (SWG notwithstanding..lol)
The 360 with a HD-DVD add-on is almost just as expensive as a PS3 with a blue-ray though and the Wii is a good lower end system..
My own personal opinion is to wait till the Wii and the PS3 have matured somewhat and then make a decision on what to get rather than basing my choices on the opinions of people who are brand-loyal to one company and won't tolerate anyone choosing anything else.
If anything buy what you like and don't worry what others think.

after shipping back my PS1 because it melted down after 4 hours of play time I was not going to buy a PS2 a friend of mine took his back twice after the first one didn't work at all and then the second one just stopped reading any CD's he is on his third PS2.. after all these problems the only one I would buy cause it looks like a lot of fun and interaction is the Wii i haven't ever wanted a Xbox the 360 is nice graphic wise but i'm not paying more then 250 for a play toy.. after all I have 1500 + the 46' HDTV/monitor in my PC so.. If i want uber games and lots of things my PC is still #1 hands down.

We had a small party tonight and we played Wii for well over 7hrs straight I have determined two things. Alcohol makes you not realize you're not 21 anymore, and two the Wii is quite possibly the most fun console I've ever had.

Oh and 3, my gf can kick my ass at boxing :(

I havnt bought a Nintendo since the Snes, so there isnt much brand loyalty for me there. The Wii is just fun and cheap.

As far as the Xbox + HD DVD being the same price as the Blue Ray. The HD has a better picture, and looks to be lasting longer than the Blue Ray.

The other thing I read and im not claiming this to be right, The 360 was designed to be programmer friendly, so its easier to make better use of the Software than the PS3. The PS3 is really hard to program and tries to over come that by using mega hardware.

Also read an interview with the guys from Alienware that built the PS3. They said it was a piece of junk and wont be buying one :(

Knock 2-300 dollars off the PS3 and fix the overheating issue and ill buy one :)
