I am not looking for answers , Need help though because i accually need to do my homework this year , I know like 50% of this board are math wiz's so i thought i'd check here , my mom doesnt know math for shit. Any help at all would be greatly appriciated.
the knight found that his warhorse could run 6900 feet in 230 seconds. Write the two ratio's implied by this statement . At this rate how long would it take his warhorse to run 100,000 feet
Nt exacly looking for an answer just how to set this problem up to figure out how to answer it myself! Pls help!!

The 1st ratio would be a speed (km per hour for example) with raw datas. The second would be a simplification of this ratio (you can see that 23*3=69...).
And for the 100,000 feet, now you should have a speed per second with the second ratio, just apply to the distance. (i.e. if I have to do 100km at 10km per hour, I need 10 hours)
Hope this helps.

Good to see you Inks. I'm going to give you the answer on this one just so you know how to do it in the future.
First, you need to set up your ratio to find how many feet the horse can run in 1 second. To do this, set up a ratio like this:
6900 feet/230 seconds
If you plug that into your calculator, you now see that the horse can run exactly 30 feet per second (probably similar to my bard horse, lol). Now for the final solving equation. Let 'T' represent the total time it takes for the knight and his horse to run 100,000 feet:
T = 100,000 feet / 30 feet per second
T = 3333.33 seconds (or about 55 minutes to run 100,000 feet, which is almost 19 miles)
There are similar questions which will cause you to multiply both your known and unknown variables instead of dividing. It all depends on how it's worded and what you're looking for in the end. Hope this helped!
P.S. I'm terribly sorry if this is wrong. Someone correct me on this if necessary, please. :o
Edit: Thanks for the reminder Winterworg.

T = 100,000 feet / 30 seconds
If T is Time, then it should be (100,000 feet) / (30 feet/sec)

Go into Law Enforcment and never worry about numbers again. Trust me. Just learn how to stomp a mud hole in some hippie ass and you'll make Capt. in no time flat.
