Thought some of you might be able to give me somemore information in regards to printers. My company prints 3-4000 flyers per month we currently use two HP2550 printers for this tasks. cartridges cost is around 390 dollars a week per machine.
I was speaking with someone who mentioned it might be more cost effective to purchase a higher end printer, which will lower cartridge costs and over cost.
Any information or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I passed your question off to my gf who is a graphic artist at a large printer in this area. Here is her response....
Hell it might even be more efficient to do pro printing. To give an appropriate answer, I would need to know how many they print at once, are they the same piece, are they personalized? To me 390/wk x 4cartridges is like pissing money down a shower drain. Plus you have maintenance costs or the printer and paper costs, so their bill has to be ultra hefty till all is said and done. Depending on their needs and time frames, it would behoove them to get them done as I suggested at a shop like where I work. Costs here are pretty reasonable. But like I said, I am not clear enough on the specifics of their work flow.

Yeah, my first suggestion would be to price Kinko's or a place like that.

Thanks for the responses. I've considered doing print shops but our distributiuon can vary greatly depending upon the time of year and if we have events. The biggest drawback is the number of changes to be made on the fly regarding promotions or the event.
Having the felixbilty in house is what most of my staff wishes.
Thanks again for the responses.
