Perisa, Iran, whatever it's called these days, is perhaps not being very wise with gun-ho and aggressive Westerners next door, in terms of their foreign policy.

They seem to be.. "flexing" their muscles. And I do believe parading prisoners blindfolded on TV is a breach of a certain international convention.

An adviser to President Mohammad Khatami had said the eight sailors could be freed if there was an official apology from the UK government.

Naughty, naughty Perisans.

I am glad they turned them back over. Would hate to see Iran get laid to waste by our British buds and of course my friend and yours G Bush.

Wouldn't happen.
Jack Straw, in particular, has spent very many years trying to build up relations with Iran. And right now, after two painfully expensive wars (Afghanistan and Iraq) we are in no position to start a third.
Three wars in 3 years may be something you folks can do, but we sure can't anymore.

I don't think Iran would provoke us to the extreme of keeping the Royal Navy sailors captive against our will. It's just a chance, I guess, to piss the "Zionist" West off.
Certainly undermines the current British "soft" approach in the Middle East (if you can call it that).

I do wonder what's going to happen to the equipment and boats they are keeping. We were actually giving them to the Iraqi's..
