Sorry in advance if this is old news (did a forums search and found nothing). This stupid game has sucked me back in the form of Project 1999, a classic EQ emulator. I'm ashamed to be playing again, and I question the legality of it, but if you're interested, check it out:

It's been up and running since October, and it's currently oldschool, vanilla EQ only. Rumors are that Kunark is scheduled to "release" in October. I'll be surprised if I'm still playing by then, but it's a nice diversion for now. Look me up as Roliel.

Heya Roli. Long time no see. :)

Are you playing a bard again?

There's been some talk about it on the forums, but I haven't been able to find anything really relevant.

I played it for a couple weeks. I gave up on it because it was just too brutal. And I don't just mean because it was vanilla EQ (I loved the good ol' days). When I was playing (3 or 4 months ago I guess) combat was bugged. I was a level 4 bard attacking a blue mob and getting hit for full damage each time, while missing 75% of my hits. It was the brutality of original EQ, with bugginess on top.

I've been playing Shards of Dalaya for the last month or so. Its the more "matured" EQ, with some very interesting changes. It uses the same install files that you used for Project1999 and is very well supported. I haven't noticed any real bugs and so far has been VASTLY more enjoyable than project1999. It is a slightly different game, though. Not all the zones are in it, a lot has been renamed.. some zones are altered (Freeport and Kaladim are actually undead Exping zones now). Zone connections don't work the same, etc.. but the core of it is good ole EQ.

Most of the bugs have been fixed as far as I can tell. I'm often amazed at its accuracy. It's quite brutal though, especially when you're used to playing WoW. ;)

Yeah, there is. Population's spread out pretty evenly; never really had a problem finding a group (even if it's just one or two others) after you get to level five or so.
