Umm yeah, it's allot.
http://news.com.com/Sony+unveils+PS3+pricing%2C+release+dates/2100-1043_3-6069994.html
The PS3 will come in two configurations: one version with a 60GB hard drive that will cost $599, and a second with a 20GB hard drive that will come in at $499 (http://news.com.com/2061-10797_3-6069981.html?tag=nl), SCE President Kaz Hirai said.
Those prices are significantly higher than Microsoft's Xbox 360, which has two versions, one with a 20GB hard drive that costs $399 and another with no hard drive that retails for $299 (http://news.com.com/Microsoft+sets+Xbox+360+pricing/2100-1043_3-5836461.html?tag=nl).

Umm yeah, it's allot.
Apperently it isn't enough!
In any case, the PS3, at a minimum of $499, is likely to hit Sony pretty hard on the bottom line. That's because, as CNET News.com reported in February, it appears that the PS3's component cost will be at least $800 (http://news.com.com/PlayStation+3+component+prices+Why+so+high/2100-1043_3-6042226.html?tag=nl).
Losing $300 bucks on each sale. I'm guessing it won't go on sale for some time then :D

Fuck you Sony!
Seriously.
Nintendo 64 comes out, 4 controller slots.
Playstation comes out, 2 slots.
Sega Dreamcast, 4 slots.
Sony Playstation 2, 2 slots.
Nintendo Gamecube, 4 slots.
NO, I DO NOT WANT TO BUY A FUCKING MULTI TAP THAT BROKE AFTER 2 MONTHS ANYWAYS. THANKS SONY!
I, for one, will not be buying this. Sony is always trying to nickel and dime their loyal base. I'm pretty happy with my 360.

My multi tap is years old...still works
My PS2 is one of the first batch out, works awesome as does my son's.
Much better product over all than anything the competition has EVER put out.
I'll be buying at least one, maybe as many as 3!!!
Go go Tekken for the win!

I have a first gen Playstation 2 from launch day, a product of spending the night at Best Buy. After a year or so the dreaded "Disc Read Errors" started. Taking it apart to re-align the laser worked for a while, but after a while even that wouldn't fix it. Eventually I had to take it to a store and pay to have it fixed.
Personally, I don't know anyone with a Ps2 who *hasn't* bitched about errors with it. Hell, I have a friend with *two* broken Ps2s.
I have a regular NES, SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Playstation 1/2, Gamecube, Xbox, and 360. The only two that have ever given me problems are the Playstation and the Playstation 2. Eventually I had to run the Playstation upside down to get the games to play. I can't wait to see what fun the Ps3 will bring.

LOL wow I never had issues like that with any console *POUNDS on wood* I am definitely buying a PS3. I forewent the 360 b/c it just didn't appeal to me.

I had my start in Consoles so I can't knock em, but believe it or not it was EQ that dragged me away from my Playstation.

from what I read in the article 'wein, you can use 7 controllers with the PS3, and it doesn't mention anything about a multi tap

Hey Ain?
You know someone now who's never had problem with first batch PS2...
And trust me they both get used tons, the Tekken weekends with friends/family alone puts a strain on them I'm sure.
Treat it like anyother electronic component and they'll last forever.
i.e....keep'em cold and clear of pet hair/dust bunnies and they run great.

The PS3 looks less appealing to me, too. I probably won't be getting any of the newer systems for a while yet, but if I do, the Nintendo Wii is garnering my interest more than any other (despite the retarded name). The controller looks like a lot of fun. ;)

One of the primary reasons to own an xbox was that it was sturdy. I accidently dropped it right out of the box (about as high as I am tall, which I think was about 6 feet or so) and to this day it still works. The ps2 I think is more like to fall apart given that kind of harsh treatment, but then again it is a more delicate system. As for the ps3, I haven't touched any of the next gen consoles, and I don't plan to break that yet. I want to see what the revolution has to offer, especially if its going to be selling for 300 as opposed to the cost of the ps3 monstrosity.

My brothers dvd player in his xbox went out, I had my Ps2 for the same amount of time and it was still working perfectly until the day it was destroyed ina car fire. Ps2 was easily alot better quality then xbox however xbox has my two favorite games :/

KotOR was without a doubt one of the coolest games I've ever played. 2nd one was silly though. :\

I had no problem wiht the second game cause it was for the most part the same game, doesnt matter to me because those games and Jade Empire have the biggest replay value I have seen in awhile, that is why they will be my soul decision what system I will buy, only other games I play go to both systems.
