GOD DAMN I HATE THIS FLYING DONKEY. I camp in SK for 3 days straight, minus 7 or so hours total for sleep, and have a total of 3 Quill spawns. 2 of them are legs. Fine, right? No biggie. Third day, some wizzie comes in and in 15 minutes has Quillmane spawn and dead, before I can get there. Of course he drops the cloak. The wizzie shouts he gots the cloak, and I saw my screw this, I'm pacin' out of this hell hole bit, and someone asks me why I need the cloak, I'm a bard anyways. I tell them I need it to MQ for a friend, cause I figured if I was gonna be there tracking Quill anyways there was really no reason to be there.

The god damn douchebag wizzie offers to sell the MQ for 10k. When I've been sitting there 3 days. And he's been there 3 god damn minutes. I promptly give him the finger and tell him to foad.

You've been here forever:P" and we had a nice few minute conversation about how I was going insane waiting for Quillmane. All while this guy was sitting here. Then Quillmane spawns, and he's on it, and shouts "Woot, Pegasus feather cloak!". How many people do you know that would be happy after that? Then the assbag offers to sell it to me. That was just the fucking clincher. I hope he's happy with his fuckin dirty cloak.

And I'll rant about whatever the hell I want to by the way. I'll go off on the fucking sky for being blue. My rant, asshat, so you can foad as well.

that is one of the most evil camps, ive ever tried to camp.sat in that zone for hours and hours for 3 days straight,killin everything that moves,and never seen that accursed horse from the nine hells pop.

Soloed him at lvl 32 after running into him by chance. Almost lost the fight but he turned to run as I was near death. Had the cloak ever since (guildies managed to get it on their own).

I sympathize, though, it's a bitch of a camp.

Ive been campin this thing off and on for 3 YEARS. Everytime I camp it I do it for a time period of 3 hours or more. I bet I have spent over 500 hours in that zone for that cloak. I have gotten 28 pairs of legs and -0- cloaks.

Yes, you get all of mine. I was just going insane after 3 solid days there, just to see some random guy come in and get it instantly. I would be much more pissed if he had spawned 15 times and not dropped the cloak once =/

Camped it for a while, even had people logging in just to help camp it. Never got quillmane to spawn or just got legs. Then the one time im camping him.. someone yells

'Quillmane up!!!' seconds later hes dead.. and some level 17 monk or something says it dropped the cloak and loots it.

Then I say, why did you loot that.. you can't even use the effect on it. Didn't you hear my tells to NOT loot it and I would pay for the looting rights (was offering fungus tunic and 20k)... I did NOT want to pay for a MQ that he might fuck up. So hes like why dont you PL me and i'll give you the cloak then when I can enter air.

No way.. so I start getting pissed off and just basically bitch and moan for a while till I cool off. Never go back and camp it, but a friend I knew back in CN app days (Aspro) offered me a cloak MQ for free... YAY..

I camped it for days and days with my warrior, back before Kunark. Only spawned once. Dropped legs for some druid that beat me to it.

Later on, I helped a mage friend camp it for her epic. Again, spent days and days there camping it. Got 3-4 pairs of legs and still no cloaks. Finally, after about a week, he spawned and dropped a cloak for her. Then, about 30 seconds later he spawned again and dropped another cloak for me. GG EQ RNG.

I got my cloak after about 3 days of camping him almost 2 years ago and I still use it .. almost daily.

the camp does indeed suck. I've looted 2 cloaks and multiquested both of them. I played levels 19-35 there solo back in the day and have spent weeks there goofing around since.

Tips that may or may not help you:
-get a tracker (as you are)
-kill named things in entire zone which includes: bull elephants, any gnoll, treats, cyclops, Sentry Alechin, Brother Qwinn

About 6 months to a year ago the spawn cycles changed. Previously there were basically 4 areas a named could spawn in and it would roam. Killing a named would near instantly spawn another named in any area. Now killing a named will allow another named to spawn at a later time... between instant and hours.

Quillmane is rare, but not the rarest of the rare spawns that I have seen. I've been 2 for 6 for cloaks all the times I've been part of quillmane slayings. I've got all the loot from SK except for the silvery scimitar. Koldir Thunderhoof and Groi Gutblade I have only seen once each.

I've gotten 3 cloaks in my time, just running through SK...MQ'd one, gave one to Tiko, and then kept the other, just because it's so damn useful. I mean sure I get the spell, but not the componentless one...and I keep levitate up 24/7...Or did. Shite...I keep forgetting that I'm not playing anymore....

Don't let the guy get to you. You said that he was in the zone and heard you and others talking about how long you've been there... so chances are pretty good that the cloak did not drop and he just thought he was being funny by saying it did.

Fucking horse I spent I think a week long period of 18 hours a day camping that bitch for my epic...I didnt have a tracker or anything but managed to get 3 spawns. 2 legs and a cloak...I got lucky and got her about 40 minutes after server up.

But I feel yer pain.

Using show EQ i was able to get Quill to spawn 10 times in one hour dropping a total of 6 cloaks.

chalk up 7 more hours to my total camp time after wasting all night tonight in that piece of shit zone. My eyes feel like they are going to bleed.

I guess I might as well let my secret out, as I give two shits about eq and the "tools" I used to help me along. And fuck you Friday you slut, I was the one who spawned them. Anyways.

Get showeq.
Get a stop watch.
Quilimaine can spawn in 3 area's in the zone, but you'll get the most luck forming a traingle from the birds, to paw. to the hermit and hunt that section.

Make sure no one is hunting in that area.

The spawns in this zone spawn in exact time span cycles. THe rare mob placeholders take about 10 or 15 more seconds longer to spawn than the normal mobs cycles.

Kill a mob, start your stopwatch.

Wait till you see another mob in the "section" spawn.

Stop your stopwatch.

Note the time. (If I remember correctly, this is around 40 seconds or so)

Kill another mob "NOT the one that just respawned". start the stopwatch, if this is a normal mob , the respawn should happen exactly the same time span as the first mob killed.

Keep note of all the mobs that respawned in the normal cycle and never kill them again.

Eventually you will get on a spawn that takes about 10-15 seconds longer to respawn. THis is a rare spawn placeholder cycle.

Keep killing that cycle and only that cycle over and over again. It's pretty much garunteed you'll get a rare to pop within 10 or so kills of the placeholders.

The only drawback to this, is that there are a shitload of rare's in this zone. And it's hard to land the quilimane cycle. And some rare cycles are shared.

Using this method, I (not you Friday fag) spawned 6 Q's in a row. And have killed her many many times. I ended up having 3 cloaks on my main, 2 on friday, and 1 on most of my twinks. THis method works. It's not bullshit.

IT does require showeq. So depending on your EQ morals and how bad you want the cloak, have fun.

I've kept this secret for a long time, might as well share now that I kicked the eq habit for months now.

Also, this method is even easier if you zone in and a rare is already up. Kill the rare, wait till another mob in that area spawns, keep killing that cycle, etc etc... most of the rare cycles are shared, aka, quilimane cycle can be shared with the rare tree dude, etc..

If this has changed, and the rare cycles now spawn at the same intervels.. then just keep kill any cycle over and over, if after 20 kills nothing spawns, move to another mob and kills its cycle, rinse, repeat

If you run ShowEQ and want to earn some plat...or just feel like tossin your boy a bone for all the time ive wasted on this piece of shit camp... shoot me a tell ingame and well keep it our little secret!

You can be pretty much assured that in any high end guild, at least half the officers use ShowEQ. Any guild that says they don't are either liars, or incompetant.
