View Full Version : Raid Points - tracking

I'm in search of a windows based program I can use to parse raid attendance etc.. so we can assign points per hour. Also needs to be able to allow manuall adjustment of points on the fly. Web based dbase, so the rest of the guild can view it via a web browser. The system we used has crashed and is pretty much dead. We've got some seriously dedicated members/officers keeping track of points manually but they're all about to explode in fits of frustration.

Does anyone have a link, download or has anyone coded something I might be able to donate for the sourcecode. It needs to be easy to load and use. I'm not that bright (ok throw comments now) when it comes to hosting websites an stuff. I can host a img link an normal pages, when it comes to php or something a bit more complicated I'm lost.

If you can port a linux version to windows I'd be interested in talking to ya.

Save some eq players sanity! Give me some assistance http://www.ayonae.ro/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I feel your pain with trying to manually track stuff. I am currently setting up an EQ2DKP system. http://eqdkp.com/ If you don't have a host you can check their forums (knowledge base) the install sections will direct you to some hosts you can use. I know allot people who this and give it high marks. I'm looking forward to not busting ass trying to keep up with an Excel spreadsheet. Good luck!

And no it's no Windows, but it is webased and it's easy to install and setup.

Yep I've looked at eqdkp. We're really not a "DKP" guild. We assign points per hour of raid attendance, give bonus points to CLs and Officers and level dings.

We had a setup but the system crashed and it's not looking like retreiving or salvaging any of the info is going to happen.

eqdkp is on my list. I've loaded it looked at it, played around a bit with the online demo. Doesn't seem to support what I'm looking for. If it does, I'm not seeing it or I'm to dence to figure it out.

Way back in the day, Mark of Honor had a member that developed a simple yet extremely effective tracking tool. I never took the time to download it but maybe someone from the old guild reads the boards and could hook you up.

I can't remember the characters name, pretty sure he was a bard though.

What's stopping you from just reinstalling the system you had before? Was that the only copy of the software/spreadsheets/whatever you were using?

Eggzactly...

The member who wrote it is now long gone. The system he wrote was rock solid. Then as computers can do when not fed enough.. it went POOF! We have copies of raw data, showing points earned, points spent etc. Just the dbase and input system is trashed. So it's now in a manual excel spreadsheet.

You can still use EQDKP in the manner you described. Visit their forums, there are countless mods there and you can request them too.

We're currently using EQDKP and award points based on hourly attendance. It's not very hard at all to modify to do what you want it to. So far so good anyway.

"bonus points to CLs and Officers" is going to kill that guild fyi

Just curious if you are doing it this way..

Make a event for 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, etc.

You can then create raids from these events based on how long you raided on a particular night.

Thanks for the info Talid. VV has been around since 99' and it's not dead yet. CL's and Officers get 1 point a week. not like it's a huge bonus.

How are you guys making EQDKP adjust item prices on the fly? The only way I saw it could handle this was to create an item at each new price...making your item database a big, ugly, useless steaming pile of crap.

Nah, changing the price of an item doesn't affect purchase history.

Twinked - If it's not a huge bonus, and it's no big deal....why give it?

Exactly, it just causes members to become envious of officers/cl, especially if they lost BigMobItem01 by a small number of points to an officer.
1 point a week may not seem like much, but at the end of the month that is 4-5 points extra, which adds up over time.

I have to agree this is beyond insane. You guys have never had a problem with it?

Hmmm wonder if I can somehow start skimming a little jingle off the top of the guild bank I mean I'm a guild leader and all and should get "something" for being it.

While that is extreme that is exactly what you are doing, rewarding someone for a title even if it's a modicum amount it's still not right.

Basically, yes.

Because of the time invested beyond playing the game. The officers and class leaders are assigned tasks an duties to preform outside and inside of the game.

IE: Doing points manually.. That takes a lot of non-raid & game time, so giving 1 point a week is really the minimum.

It's always been this way and will continue this way.

This wasn't the topic of my post, thanks for being concerned with the welfare of my guild. We've been doing it this way for many years. If you don't agree with it, you may voice your opinions till you are blue in your face. It's the way we do it.

As far the points program:

We're working with one the members to get one writen. One of the members has stepped up and offered his services.

Thanks for the idea.. eqdkp just wasn't what we were looking for. Kind of spoiled with what we had.

Basically, yes.

Same here implemented it this past week and it's working great. Sooooooooooooo much easier than what we were doing before. I found several mods too that really helped the interface like the 30/60/90 and the correct EQ2 classes. For a free program I am continually impressed.

Twinked you're nuts for not at least giving eqdkp a try, it's free, it's supported, and it does everything you need. Even your insane brownie points for officers would be possible.

Well what the heck. I update my guilds DKP 3-4 times a week! I should demand more DKP!!!

Hah...I'd never do that. I don't need rewards for helping my guild out.

I enjoy being part of a guild where the officers WANT to help, without getting a paycheck.

Twinked

Ok say what you will.. The officers want to help. I didn't make the rules. They've been that way, along time before I joined VV. I don't see why it matters to any of you what we do. None of you are applying and some who've made comments don't even play anymore.

I asked a simple question "anyone know of a raid points program I can use to do such n such" everyone has picked up on the fact officers and class leaders get (1) extra point a week... Woopty fucking DOOOOOOO!! It was something the members of the guild voted on many many years ago as a thank you for doing what you do for the guild.

Ya don't think it's fair? Seriously I don't care... It's not your guild..

I'm not even an officer nore my class lead. Yet, I'm trying to help friends of mine get the points straightend out.

Actually Shannah, this shows me that trying to be casual and show a different side of myself is worthless.. It also shows me what asswipes most Aro folks really are. I've met some nice ones like yourself. The majority are pretty much douchenozzles though and I avoid contact with them.

Cya in game Shannah ;)

Twinked I was on Ay Ro and think it is okay for officers and/or GL to get extra point. They deserve it for the whiney /tells they may get from time to time. :D

Hey...how about making a poll. :)

Hey...how about making a poll.

If we make a poll, people will have to get nekkid and dance around it. That could get ugly, fast! :D

Wait, I'm thinking of a pole. Nevermind then.

Anyway, don't let it get to you, Twinked. People are just curious. You brought it up and well, it's an interesting concept and apparently worth debating. Maybe in a different thread?

I wish I could help with information on this topic, but I've not played around with any DKP programs. Good luck on finding your solution.
