Hi guys,

A friend, who is a network admin and works on very complex networking solutions, suggested that I do a Burn-In on my ram to ensure none of the modules are duds.

He suggested I try:

My question, is this something I should really consider for my new home computer (picked it up yesterday evening).

If the memtest86 just detects bad ram modules and has no other significant effect I will probably just install my OS and go from there.

Let me know your thoughts on Ram Burn-In.

Cheers,

Sanchek

Waste of time, unless you're having unexplained trouble.

I've never done this on a new system, I don't see the point. If you have a problem afterwards then yeah test it but why waste that time and energy now?

/agree Complete waste of time unless you are having bizarre or unexplained errors or performance issues.

If you've got all new hardware sitting in that shiny new box, I'd just install the OS and get gaming!
